I have a 986. Excellent wheel gun. Amazingly accurate, and very well made.
It's as good as my 625-3's in quality, I was a little impressed.
Titanium cylinder reduces lock time, so it cycles fast and the cylinder notches should hold up to heavy abuse before peening. There is hardly any recoil and it will shoot accurately almost any 9mm load.
Trigger is exceptional, awaiting some springs to try, but just turning the mainspring screw out for the time being and it's almost perfect as is. With deep seated Federal primers you can make it stupidly light.
Clylinders are already chamfered (very lightly) for fast reloads.
TK Customs makes the moonclips for S&W, so they can bought easily.
Very, very impressed with this package, a little pricey at $1400 tax in, but worth every penny IMHO (I have handled an Alpha and no offense, but this is on another level)
Now just awaiting my 929, which looks to be a long wait.
It's totally usable in IPSC, that's why I bought it. Instead of loading super light .45 acp for Minor, now I can just shoot this and leave the 625 for major.
Only difference with this is that you don't shoot the last shot (7th). Not an issue if you're used to just shooting 6 anyways. It's a perfect IPSC Revolver minor gun.

S&W did that themselves when they made them 7- and 8-shot guns, effectively making them unusable in IDPA and IPSC
