I can't be the first to suggest this thread be a sticky!?
I think I'm done this project....I think. I'm still torn over what I've done to an E2 stock, but I don't think I'm into bubba territory yet.
Marstar Norc Shorty, shimmed, oprod guide re-pinned, upgraded spring guide, the usual stuff
M1 Garand rear sight (Italian Connection, now redundant with aimpoint)
Springfield Armory Scout Front Post (Springfield Armory...also now redundant...oh great I feel another irons only build coming already!)
Smith Enterprise Good Iron Brake, I think I notice a difference.
It sure is loud (Armtac)
E2 Stock (unfinished) Vented Handguard & Front rail (Treeline Enterprises)
Promag knock off of the ARMS #18 split rail (Mystic Precision)
Aimpoint CompML2 (used on the EE)
Leupold PRW 30mm High Ring (One Shot Tactical Supply)
Magpul RVG my original goal was NO-MAGPUL! and I might upgrade this later, but for now the price is right (One Shot Tactical Supply)
It's a heavy rifle, but it feels really comfortable already. First time handling a rifle with a vertical grip, so far I love it.
First experience with an Aimpoint (used off the EE) and it only re-affirms my love for good optics. It feels so solid!
The PRW ring only offers 50% of the contact area compared to the Aimpoint mount, and I haven't fired it yet. The connection feels sturdy when you try and wiggle it, but we'll see how it handles a trip to the range.
I've had a lot of fun putting this together, I hope it shoots like I want it to. My goal was to build a CQB M305 on a budget (admittedly I'm already into this for $1700.00 LOL) that handles well at short range and at most let's me bang the 16" diameter gong at 200m. If it does that, and the Aimpoint stays attached to the rifle with a constant POI, I will consider this a successful build.
Only thing left to do is the Popsicle stick trick to retain my pring guide pin, a dummy selector kit and refinish the stock.
I need to take better pictures!
