Elijah Lee.....please do not buy a lab or similar off of Kijiji. When we got into the lab worls the first thing we were told was that the purchase price of the dog was about the cheapest expense we were ever going to have. It was 100 percent true. I can only speak for Labs but each breed ahs various congenital defects that need to be cleared in order to be registered. Does the registration paper mean they won't have issues??? No certainly not. However, a dilligent breeder will have ensured that the dogs are cleared by appropriate vets and guarantee or not, that clearance per se is worth a significant amount. We had to put our girl down in December ($750 papered dog from 2004) and just recently purchased a new one for $1500. If you are unsure about breeders etc, check with the Canadian Kennel Club or your local breed sepcific organization and find out what's out there. I can't imagine having a 3 or 4 year old dog who is fully a member of your famly and finding out they are displastic etc. and having the choice between a second mortgage for the surgery or putting them down.
