CZ 958 Teaser #3

They didn’t ban all of the VZ-58's, you can still get the 5.56 VZ-58.

I largely believe that the bans came from pressure from the anti-gun lobby(Probably as a FU for scraping the Long gun registry). I remember reading an article from 2011-2012, that the gun control lobby was putting pressure on the RCMP to ban gun that looked like "military assault rifles", because the RCMP had not prohibited anything since 1996 and had been prescribing "to many" semi-auto "Military assault weapons" as "Non-Restrictive or Restricted"(basically following what was outlined in the firearms act). Around the same time, they released a list of about 15-20 firearms they where going to look at(Probably a list that came from the anti-gun lobby). Its also interesting to note that they had two years to decide, and coincidentally did it after the long-gun registry was destroyed, either as a ploy to get it back, or give chance for the firearms to disappear and not have to buy them back or pure coincidence.

There is a thread to discuss your interpretation of the recent prohibition... Actually there is a whole forum category dedicated to it.

I'm confused and didn't read the whole thread. The 958, I thought, was going to be a vs/cz 58 in 7.62x51But this is just 7.62x39. Why is this better than either the 858 or vz58?

Cause it's supposed to be reliable like the 858, something the vz58 is not ( not on the same level) and it's got a REPEATABLE mounting system for regular optic, no more 2 pounds side mounting bracket for a scope.

Also not prohibited and built on 100% newly manufactured semi auto receiver.

These rifles are looking great. It has been cool to see the different Teasers. I am looking forward to seeing these on the market. Excellent work Wolverine Supplies.

I have been following these threads on and off since the first teaser thread, so forgive me if this question has been answered already but did you ever consider making a semi auto only version of the SA 58 MS? Below is a picture another member posted in the original thread. Seem as though it covered everything you have been trying to work on already?

Anyways, thank you for your efforts in bringing another rifle to market.

I think Mr. Wolverine and his team deserve a big Thank-You for bringing the 958 to the table! I appreciate the financial risk that has been taken on this endeavor. A risk that is warranted considering what the beurocrats are attempting with the 858. A lot of people have and are getting screwed over with all this bullsh*t. A stand needs to be taken against such beurocratic STUPIDITY and the 958 is a manifestation of that stand. I know that not everyone is happy with some details of the design but it is impossible to please everyone. I personally am looking forward to sending some lead down range when my 958 arrives!

I still think that a bottle cap opener should be incorporated into the butt stock for the multiple beers that will no doubt be consumed when cleaning the 958 after those long range sessions. Sure would be handy! ; )

Well said regarding the efforts of bringing the 958 to the table. Bottle cap openers and 'Team 958' shoulder patches for everyone.

On a side note, the SA 58 pictured above sure has a nice full length one piece rail.

Yes the 958 mounting option is awesome BUT the dust cover rail is not even close to 2 lbs and it too zeros after disassembly

Very nice to know! But that said one does still need a shell deflector right?

I hate hammering this as I am pleased with the 958 but to me take down pins retaining zero would take the cake! 4 screws well it still takes the muffin:p

No it doesn't.

All it does is replace the rear dust cover.

I don't want to derail this thread as it's Wolverines amd that being said I will probably grab one of each versions.

It looks so weird without a front sight.

The Wolverine Supplies is a nice touch.

Does this mean this is the end of 858's in the future? There will be no more new 858's regardless of any new law allowing us to keep our current 858s? If so that's going to make the 858 a collectors item.
