Well I can't seem to sell my 204 so I mise well start loading for it. It's a Remington 700 with a 1:12 twist. I read/hear a lot about people saying the 204 is a real hit and miss with 40gr and over pills. The problem is I want this for a coyote rifle and also read that the 32 gr pills are a little lite for yotes, which seem to shoot great in most rifles. Those who have a 204 ruger and hunt coyotes with them, what are you loads for coyotes ?

I have a remington .204 and use the 32 grain hornaday superformance. And I have shot five yotes this year with this combination. no problem knockin them down. all one shot kills. and have shot them out to 100-150. since they were all coming in straight on. all were shot in the neck area. you should have no problems with that gun taking out yotes. I was afraid after i bought the gun i should of went for the 22-250. but this gun has been great.

My 204 performs best with 32gr.Sierra`s. my skinner guy likes it as well no big hole on the far side of said yote. Been using H322 as it meters well and makes small groups, maybe not the smallest for target shooting but works mighty well out to 300 yds. on gophers.
I've tried the 32s with one bang flop. I've tried the 35 Bergers and hit 3 coyotes with one I was able to bring home. 35ers 1st one - hit it at about 40 yards big hole in shoulder and it ran about 75 yards under a spruce tree where it needed another one behind the ear big hole. second one - called in to approx. 100 yards hit and went down, sweet i'm thinking, nope gets up when I'm about 50yards away and I can't hit it on the run. tracked it for an hour and a half. No coyote. 3rd - hit one from the tractor fender. Father-in-law says holy #### you hit it. walked up to it and I spined the damn thing. Learning from the mornings 1st coyote I wasn't about to point blank it. Good thing there was a hammer on the tractor.
Moral of my story - try a heavier bullet; shoot better than I do; or move up a caliber. I sense that the 204 it's quite enough for the bigger Canadian prairie coyote. I'm going to give it a go one more winter with mine but I'm going to try the 45grners.
I love it for gophers - ohh man!!!! You squeeze the trigger and you can watch them fly. Not like the bigger 22 calibers.

Awesome load right there. My go too as well
The 39 Sierras are a great coyote load. Very fur friendly, very flat and kill shots are always seen in the scope. I also find the 32 Sierra blitzkings behind benchmark a real accurate gopher load.

Go with the 39 grain Sierra's. I found them to be way more accurate than the Nosler 40 gr ballistic tips. I'm using Benchmark powder, with good results.

32 gr sierras in front of 29.5 of varget,hornady brass ,and surpassing max load a little ......(so dont just jump to that ,/be really careful)....... kills em dead to 400 yards anyhow........ if your gun like the 40 gr pills go with that though ....better in the wind........ my particular rifle doesnt like boattails or 40 grainers so i was limited in choice........
26gr Varmint Grenades with 26.5gr H4895 has been working for me, but, I have wanted to try the 39gr Siera in my M77 Mk II Varmint\Target with a 1 in 12 barrel.
How far we're the shots with the vg?
I tried a long shot on one with poor results and gave up on them. Maybe they're alright inside 200yds?
That's the problem with the 26gr Varmint Grenades, limited to 175-200 yards for me, hence the interest in the Siera 39gr bullets. There are a couple of power lines near me that I'd like to scope and call. Shots beyond 150 yards are possible and probable so something that bucks the wind better is needed.
