Aftermarket? Sling hard point attachment (C7 / C8)

The 80's wants their sling back ;)

? So your "millennial" solution is a piece of cable!? Same type of cable I used to lock my bicycle up with in the '80's?...Whoakay there guy? Just trying to help a guy out, thanks for voicing your disapproval!?

*edit* BTW, I love my 3 point sling. (They're used in Afghanistan...not by 1980's Russian troopies either.)

No...no his solution has been VCAS for quite some time and after owning a few its now the only sling I use. They're simple, tough, well designed and affordable. 3 point slings are overly complicated, far more than they need to be. A good 2 point works much better. YMMV

Anybody with experience with the BFG UWL mounted to the front of an AR wrapping over the handguard?

The short wire loop can be worked up about 3/4's along the forend towards the action. It is a solution for those who can't add on rail mounts or change the forend. For the C7A2 it just just be put through the slot in the buttstock and attached to the front sling swivel.

Mounting the sling so it's sideways allows for better grabbing of the adjustment, however underneath isn't terrible.

Three point slings get in the way of immediate action drills and gets hung up on pouches on a rig.

A two point adjustable sling will do everything a three point sling will without any of the disadvantages.

I was warning against the frag pin because taking them off the range is verboten. There is no law against using something from a surplus shop, but why open yourself up to scrutiny? I've run an AFG2 on my C8 during brigade level live exes and no one had any issue, but some crusty RSM may have chewed my arse if he had been in the mood. YMMV.

I second the VCAS sling option. I ran a MS3 for a while, but the adjustments on a VCAS are SO much smoother and faster. The only thing it doesn't do is the gucci 2 point to 1 point converstion (which I never used other than when playing with it). VCAS works better with a chest rig too.

A push button on the front rigged with our push button tri glide on the rear and you have a 2 to 1 sling ;)

All you need is this:

And remove this part of your sling:

And then loop the remaining webbing through your end plate and back up to the triglide.

Option 2 is buy on of these:

Option 3 is buy the mat tech some booze and he will make you one of the above.

I use a franken BFG Vicker/Magpul/Mat tech. I will post up some pics tomorrow.

Pricey for what it is but you've already overpaid for the sling. Check out the GG&G Sling Thing. They make one for the slot on the buttstock. Wolverine carries GG&G.

It will most definitely NOT - I have yet to find a decent 2 point sling that will let you sling your rifle like it's a guitar - the better 3 points will let you spin your rifle like you're in a ZZ Top video too!

Since the OP is a lefty, wouldn't the 3 point sling block the ejection port of the C7?

:cool:Fun police!
