bulged barrel m1a

Send me a PM'ed message. I got a spare here (Norinco 22") donated by another kind CGNutter who wants me to "pay it forward". :D

Do this, remove that s2pid set screw on the right side of your receiver and I can do the replacement. Fast turnaround since there is no headspace/finish reaming involved. :)

I would be proud to say that we have the MOST helpful forum here on CGNutz and here's part of the proof! :D I'm working part time at a gun counter in Barrie this summer so I have some spare time in between sniper matches.

I can turn it around, just cost ya the shipping to and from my location in Georgian Bay, ONT.

There... no need to spend a whack of money. Just lemme keep the spare junker barrel, I need the stub and the gas cylinder collar.

Cheers and keep helping them noobs around here!

Barney

Barney is always there to help poor misguided CGNers :)

Going USGI, high speed barrels are always an option as some have mentioned, but it's going to be an expensive one because one will inevitably buy not just barrel, gas system, etc but also a new bolt. It's all downhill from there.

I think we'd all benefit from a picture of the entire barrel(take the handguard off) to show where the bulge is. A replacement norinco barrel is an easy, obvious option. The possible other option is that you might be able to cut down the barrel to make a shorty M14....maybe.

The action is on it's way to Barney for the replacement, supplies are from another very kind CGn'r! Thanks so much! CGN does rock, i will in turn jump at the next chance to help when i can!

Should be good. I would still take the barrel and cut it to make a shorty barrel(obviously checking if there are any faults for the rest of it).

Installing a barrel on any rifle needs to be done by somebody who knows what he's doing and has the proper tools to do it.

I knew Barney would chime in and help out ....another great example of why this forum is a good place to visit. And Sunray.....Barney is one of the best guys out there for this type of work , ALMAR you are in very good hands .

just to let you guys know that I received the new BArrel and receiver from Barney today and it's even better than it was before, perfect alignment...Thanks again!

Before my grandmother died, she pulled me close by and said, "I'm gonna leave you TWO words to ensure a lifetime of happiness."

:D Great, I thought.... win lottery, marry rich, gamble lots, grow dope, :) sell drugs, ....you can guess what my imagination ran with... :D

"Be Needed!" and that's what she said. WTF ? What kind of silly advice that was since I was just a s2pid 25 year old just out of university.

30 years later, I realize what she meant and that's truly a legacy she left me. Them 2 words could not have been more true!

 And that's why I'm a religion teacher! yuk yuk yuk

Cheers all!

Barney

Yeah, another perfect example of #### saving event by Barney!

I still missed our conversation in your basement that one special Monday evening (lol).

A big kudo to Barney and my hat is off to you again!
