first handgun

I think depending on your starting pointing. If never shoot a gun before, .22 is good start, cheap and easier to handle to build the foundation.
after a while, or if you have shot guns on and off before, it's a good choice between glock 9mm or M&P 9mm for cheap. Then, you may also think about P226 given the different factory conversion kits that allow you to have different calibers for cheap. I am eyeing on the P226 TAGOPS. It comes with fiber optic/night sight combo, SRT and 4 Mags.

Ive shot a few guns before and I have liked the way the Glock felt and shot. Also to own a Colt or Wilson Combat is to own 2 of the best 1911's out there and the customization you can do with them is amazing. Even some of the customization you can do with the Glock is also amazing.

Finally picked up a 1911 Kimber at the strore yesterday and it sure felt like a natural shooter, (there will be a 1911 coming soon) Fondled a couple glocks not sure on the model but I really did not like the way they felt. We have a m&9 and cz75B .40, and the cz is the 1 that always gets the most use. I'm starting to like the m&p more but there is something about the weight and feel of the cz that keeps you going back. we also have a m&p 22 which now has about 1000 down the pipe and is starting to be consistent with out failure. just buy 1 of all and see what you like. LOL

CZ Shadow - Hands down best first pistol IMO. 9mm is cheap to shoot, not overly expensive, durable and has a real custom feel to it for the price.

Sig classic .22

Then you can upgrade to 9mm or 40 for about $400 with the sig exchange kits

+1 on this, I just got my first pistol (sig 226 classic .22) and I love it. I'd recommend it to anybody. And as was stated the conversion kits are an affordable option to switch to 9mm or .40

here goes the debate again as to which one is the better handgun.... one that you like. Everyone of them are reliable and as good as the next semi-auto handgun. The only thing I would say is that if you are into target shooting... 9MM is good enough round and anything bigger than 9MM, it is darn expensive.

3000 rds on original spring and still going strong... that said, however, anyone know the best place to get replacement parts for CZ?

Well Dlask is a service centre so they might have some stuff. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I think some site sponsors carry aftermarket parts.

jesus guys, the man wants a Wilson combat 1911, can we not foster this?

if you don't mind the wait or can get one second hand, Wilson combat all the way. some of the nicest 1911s around.
