Best concealed carry gun

What's the recoil like with +Ps out of the Airweight? I had a regular all steel M36 back in the 80s and never dared shoot anything but target wadcutters thru it!

I've only fired 6 rounds of +Ps through it and they were not fun like regular pressure .38 Specials.

I shoot only standard .38 Specials through it but if it were carried I would load either Nyclads or +Ps.

The amazing thing is holding the Model 12 Airweight and my 2.5" Model 19 at the same time. The 30 ounce M19 feels so much heavier (it's 50% heavier) and I know that the M12 would be the one I would chose for EDC.

The M19 would be my second choice for CCW.

….Glock 30S with a couple of extra mags (10 rounders only of course). Can't get much better than a "compact" 45ACP

I like the knock down power of the .45 and I assume I could get a 30s with a slightly longer barrel so it's not prohib.

The next question is the holster...I'm 6'2" around 225lbs. and I'm left handed. I don't want to have anything on my hip, so I'm thinking a small-of-the-back holster. What's the word on good holsters?

Geologist,
I think the M19 2.5 incher is the best looking K frame ever. Ever since I saw it on Simon & Simon, I wanted one. Got one then traded it for a M13 3 incher! Still kicking myself! I think the M19 would be a better choice for +Ps. I would have the worst flinch under pressure with the Airweight!

At 10 yards with full house 158 gr .357s I was flinching 3" low and 1 inch right with the M19 double action .

I thought maybe the sights were knocked so I shot SA and it shot to POA a 1.5" group .

I put down the M19 and shot double action with my .22 M17.

The M13 3" is definitely a serious carry gun. Fixed sights and full case length ejector rod. Is it a round butt?

A guy in Orlando told me most of his customers carried loose in the cargo pocket of their shorts, with a piece of cardboard in front of the gun. Raven's new doo-dad would be an improvement for that. Small 9's were the pistol of choice - lots of wives carrying bigger hardware in their purses.

If you cut a properly sized and shaped piece from the curved surface of a plastic windshield wash jug, you can make an effective anti print shield to fit the back pocket of your jeans.

Yeah, if you are flinching rapid fire with the M19, imagine doing it with +Ps in the J frame! Obviously, if we are fantasizing carry guns, the key is always practice with your preferred holster, carry outfit and carry load in your gun. Practicing with 148gr wadcutters and carrying 158 gr or 125 gr JHP full loads make no sense to me. I know the likelihood of actually using a carry gun is pretty slim but if and when it happens, you better hit the bad guy and not the little girl next to him.
Yeas, my M13 is the round butt old FBI issue one. It's Magna-ported with a trigger job. I have Pachmayrs on it.

If restricted-class barrel length was still in place, Glock 23 (or 19) or P229 with extended barrels.
If it were removed, Glock 26 or 27.

As awesome as it would be to be able to CCW, it would become a giant pain with something like a 5" 1911. I try to carry as little as possible; my wallet, car keys, change, Tic Tacs, that's it.

I had a H&K P7 PSP with a pocket holster ordered from UBG Holsters in Utah. I used to carry it around my house in the upper right-hand pocket of cargo pants and found the lower pocket broke up the outline. You could still see I had something in my pocket but none of my friends ever noticed. As for comfort, twice I had to pop back into the house when I found myself still carrying on the way out.

I always carried unloaded (it was just for the feel) so I don't know if or how much the extra weight would have affected me, but I never felt burdened at all.

I chose the P7 because, with its squeeze-cocker design, it may be the safest pistol ever made.

If I had to pick from my current guns I'd go with gen4 G17 or Norinco NP34. But if I could carry I'd get something a little bit lighter/compact for it.

I'd probably go with my Sig P220 Equinox....or for a little less weight, a touch more compact, my P229 Elite in 9mm. I like the DA/SA, decocker and no safety. Simplifies things and very safe carry.

Rather enjoyable with the CTC grips, actually, although I shoot 130grain +P's for practice and keep the expensive defensive rounds for carry. They get shot once a years whenever I switch them out with new stuff.
