Okay , so I'm buying my first restricted and have narrowed it down to a .22 1911 style pistol .
Three choices are the GSG , the Sig , and the browning . Anyone have experience with all three who can offer some opinions please do so . Cost is not an issue as all three are affordable .
Thanks in advance guys and gals !

I like my GSG but it's the only one of the three that I have. If cost is not a show stopper maybe a 45 with a conversion kit? I know, the kit is about the same price as a GSG but it's just a thought.

IF ammo cost is no issue either why do you want a .22 as your first pistol ? You could as easily get a 9mm get used to it and down the line when it's starting to add up ammo wise get a 22 kit, or a 22 then cause we all know it's not going to be your last gun. At least you will start with something that will give you a little kick and smile :)

from what i've seen personally, the sig mosquito is to be avoided at any price. The 2 guys i know with em had 1 front 1/4 of slide broke off, and other mechanical demons

Of the 3 listed, I would get the GSG. Sig is just a re-painted GSG for more money. The Browning is a 3/4 sized 1911 which I personally will not buy. If money's not an issue, check out the Kimber 1911-22.

I have the sig mosquito. Once we figured out which ammo it likes it has been a great little gun for the family. Just have to make sure it is clean. With the wrong ammo it was failing to feed and jamming. Started looking at taking it to a gunsmith to get the feed ramp polished but got given a brick of yellow jackets to try out and it's been great since. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all so much for the input .
To those who asked ...
- I'm really in love with the 1911 style , always was , and want one for my first . The Browning Buckmark will definitely be added in future as , having shot ones that others own I like that gun a whole lot .
- I've thought about calibre quite a lot and feel right starting with a 22 . Years ago I shot quite a bit of 9mm and will be purchasing either a 9 or a .357 for my second handgun , but right now a 22 is what I'm in the market for .
- many many folks own and like the GSG , so it is definitely high on my radar . I really like the build of every Browning I've owned and shot , so those interest me as well . As one of you mentioned , the Colt is certainly something to consider as every review I've read about it just raves about that gun . Need to find someone in the area who has one in stock , but I'd sure like to handle that pistol .
- I'm going to have to get these guns in my hands to know exactly which way I should go with this .

Can't thank you all enough for your time and knowledge .
My apologies for how long it took me to check back . Went into the city and wouldn't you know it , just had to purchase a shotgun I'd been wanting for a long time .

Thanks everyone .
Dana

Gsg.... Great pistol, I'm on my second....won't be without it...

something happened to the first? or you just like it so much you had to have two ??

as for the mosquito from what ive seen first hand they are picky about ammo. if you can get the right ammo they are reliable.
funny though the 22 conversions kits for the P226 are excellent. a friend has over well over 3K through his without one failure.
as for the browning 1911 22...it is small but is one of the best built 22 guns you will find out there. mine eats everything from subsonics to hyper velocity and has been flawless since I got it

Hey Gary seven,
No ....zero problems with the first.( except the guide rod ) thought I was done ....sold it on ee, but I missed the little bugger, had to find another one on ee, shot it this weekend.....swweeeeet, put my dlask adjustable sights on the back and shot 25yard gongs for 2 hours....Couldn't be happier ..

I agree with this post....however, I would buy a 1911 .45ACp and a .22lr conversion kit (since money isn't an issue). The .22lr kit will give you plenty of cheap (ammo) plinking time and the .45ACP will be waiting for you when you graduate to the big bore.
Best thing is you will already be familiar with the pistol.....

GSG is a good one to have.

Also, you could consider the Ruger MkII or MkIII series of .22 lr pistols. They are great, too,

Good point for sure !
I'm not real sure that I will ever graduate to a 45 though . Years ago , I shot pistols often and found that the .357 and 9mm were my preferences . At this point ( much older and with sketchy wrist strength ) I am not sure just how far I will go in calibre in the future .
Also , it's not that money is not any issue , lol . I'm not that well off . What I meant in my OP was that I'd already seen the prices of the three .22s I was considering and knew I wasn't too worried about which one of those I got , financially speaking .

Sooooo , I went and got my hands on all three . They all feel good , but I went with the....Browning . It feels right in my hand and is a quality build . Bought it and will be picking it up in early September .
Didn't get to handle the colt yet , but as soon as I'm somewhere that has one in stock I will .

I suspect that , like my rifles , I'm going to have trouble not buying many pistols as cash allows . The buckmark looked pretty nice to me as well , and the ruger 357 revolver .....yummy .

Yup , this is going to be fun !

Thank you all for the guidance . That's why I love CGN .
