Hi: redneckrob (Barry Robinson) here; some 'things I have been told about the GSG(Sig Sauer) 1911 22, Most agree its a pretty good gun for a 22 and for that price, Some fellows have made quite a few modifications to it, and they all seem to be working OK, the gun is a series 80 type, and quite a few of us, are not found of those ( to many moving parts)This is my personal 1st mod. Next, I like many, like a flat MSH, and a mag.well.. 2nd mod. all the talk about the guide rod has prompted me to aquire a solid alluminum one, which I will install if/when the stock one fails, Like many of you, I don't like/use a grip safety. Cocked & locked. So I depend on my thumb saftey, a lot. There are a lot of IPSC shooter doing the same thing. The sights do the job, BUT need to be changed. all of the inside working, need to be polished, very carefully, just so they are all "smooth"!!! The barrel-- DOES NOT LOCK UP like a regular 1911( 45 or other) No link pin & no lock up lugs!! It is locked in place, by a total of 3 pins, and if you put your barrel in the frame and install the 3 pins, the barrel should not move!!! this is its lock up or so I]have been told, by those much smarter than me. the barrel should "float" in the barrel bushing.... do NOT over tighten the screw, that goes thru the frame and barrel, just to the point, that the barrel does not move... assembled with this in mind, I found the gun very accurate, and worked extremely well. ANYTHING I may have passed on, that some find inaccurate, Sorry, just what "I" was told.... Barry
