Pretty new to the pistol world and 1911s in that degree but have always loved 1911s.
What are peoples views and opinions on the 2 manufacturers?

Seems like a bit of outdated forum information. Sort of hard to gauge peoples opinions.

If I got a Norinco, am I even allowed to bring it into the US (not sure if I would be down in the US anytime soon but maybe events in the future?)

I'd jump up to the enhanced version for a shooter.....GI style is nice if you are nostalgic, but the enhanced will be nicer to shoot.
 
ive got 3 Norcs and i picked up a SAM this last spring.
SAM is easily 10 times the gun of the norc.

the fit and finish is so much better, its a totally different ball game.
for the extra $100 difference i recommend people go for the SAM every time, and i LIKE norcs!

my dad liked his SAM so much he picked up a couple different ones.... and he has Kimbers too that he swears the SAMs are better then, i think hes getting old and crazy but he swears its true.

think i have a pic of a new norc and a new same side by side, sec ill go look

thats the no name showing norc and the SAM tactical commander side by side when they where both new.
you can actually SEE how sharp the edges are on the norc, the rear serrated cuts will actually CUT you if your not careful.
and they are totally different bluing as well.
the SAMs that ive seen are more of a parkerizing - rough texture.
 
Wicked. I was debating about the enhanced. Sounds like it's a better choice. I remember reading somewhere, someone mentioned the SAM require part fitting due to tighter tolerances.
 
one guy who was able to slip his paper work through does not make the border open to norcs

id be interested to see the fella submit his request again to see if he gets it a 2nd time.
 
Yeah the whole Norinco into the US thing is an interesting situation.

Either way. Sounding like the SAM is a good decision. I hear from some people saying parts will need to be fitted due to tighter tolerances.
