Norinco or S.A.M 1911

Thank you everyone for your insightful information and suggestions.

I like to tinker and play around with parts even if its just simple stuff so I think I will save and pony up fro the STI Spartan V in 9mm. :)
When you get your Spartan, come on out to Abby for some "Skills & Drills" pistol training. Novice, intermediate, and advanced. The absolute best deal you will ever come across when to comes to pistol training & practice. Just PM Slavex.

Fit, finish, tightness, trigger pull, sights just to name a few things....just overall made with much more care and attention then the Norks.

the fit and finish is a tad better, the sights much better, the finish does not appear to be as tough as the Norks though.

its a totally different finish.
the norcs are a normal gun bluing while the SAMs are a parkerizing finish (the ones i have and have seen)

now speaking of finishes, those Norc's that came with the ammo deal last year..... *whistles* damnnnnnn those are nice finishes!
best norc finish i have seen so far.
polished up you can shave in the reflection.

And without all the rolls markings too, they were really nice still kickin myself for not buying one

SAM models are just blasted and blued....not parkerized. Very basic finish.

feels parkerized-ish

I wish they were parkerised....the Spartan above is. Just blued after the sand blast, gives a matte finish. I get my local smith to do the same to any military rifles I am refinishing here as he doesn't do parkerising. It's not anywhere near as durable as parkerising, doesn't hold oil as well as parkerising, and will rust must faster if left un-oiled for any lenght of time.

Good to know! Will look into that a little bit more.

I have had 3 norc's Rock solid and reliable, They will take a beating and run, I have heard good things about SAM and have handled a few but would take a Norc. You cant take Norc guns or ammo into the US, they will scratch it right off your Form 6 as they did with mine.

Springfield Milspec GI parts were direct swap into my SAM.

Nothing I liked about the Norcs. Put a weighted base and they make great hammers. Thats about it.

One nice thing about the SAM's is you can now get basic Norks on the EE for $250.
Leaves extra cash for tools and parts if you like working on things...
