BEAUTIFUL SKS's !!

Just finished altering the stock a bit - lengthened it 1.5" and filled in the side sling swivel because I found it got in the way. Then hit it with some primer and rocker guard paint I had lying around.

Why did you lengthen it and paint it black  ? To each their own but the most I'd do to a surplus rifle is refinish the stock, if needed.

The lengthening was because the original LOP was much too short for my liking. It's now in line with the LOP on most of my other rifles. However, the resulting two types of wood and grain for the stock looked weird; hence, I painted it.

Okay, I see. That makes sense.

WOW.....I was surprised to see my little SKS project pop up here, although according to some fellow who is now banned ,it`s just a piece of Mutton ,but that`s OK.......I like Mutton LOL

I`m going to do an AK version this winter ,just need to get into the woodworking shop and make some grips and furniture, then some metal work.

I`ll need to take a trip to Windsor Plywood and pick out some nice wood for this project.

YUP.....more Mutton !

Merci !

I really should post better pictures ,that one is rather crappy...I`ll work on that !

I hope to start the other project soon ,just need to pick out some nice wood.I also want to make my own furniture for my CZ858 ,as the tacticool grip/handguards are not doing it for me anymore ,not sure if I want to keep the folding stock on or not ?

As for the SKS project ,I`ll need a donor rifle ,but I don`t want to use any of my Chinese versions and the two Russians I have are too nice ,so I suppose I need to go shopping....LOL

Cheers

Awe MANNN!! It was actually kinda fun watching that troll take a few lashings.

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! This is a stupidly long rant full of a bunch of nonsense directed at that tard victim. You will NOT get this 5 minutes back so if you have anything better to do...or ANYTHING AT ALL, probably a good idea to not read this post any further.

On the other hand, now that he's gone back to his Mom's house (she musta grounded him from the computer for being a douche at home too?) I think I have permission to do whatever I want to do with MY own bought and paid for with my hard earned money things/stuff.
Actually I was kinda hoping that he would still be here so I could ask if I'm allowed to do any mods/improvements/upgrades to my Jeep. No, it isn't a vintage CJ5 or CJ7...but even if it was I'd like to know if I'm allowed to mod it. A friend has an old CJ5...all stock and original with 19,000 original miles on it that one day he WILL sell to me. Would I be ok to do anything to that? Like if they were completely reversible would that be ok Mister "lives at his Mom's place" Troll?

Hey, I have been out of the gun loop for about 20 years and just got back in because I scored one of the $179 Tula SKSs from Canadian Tire.
I've been doing a lot of forum lurking and research lately and, I guess I'm not that shocked to learn that a LOT of gun guys are also into guitars. I often see gear in the background of firearms photos/forum posts. They start with G. They are LOUD. They can even be therapeutic. If you have any problems grab that gun (ok that isn't coming-off properly) or that guitar and make some noise. All your blues will vanish for a while.

OK so back on topic....Mister Mama's Boy Troll, am I allowed to modify my own guitars or do I have to leave them all stock? I ask because, like when I buy a guitar, amp, pedal, vehicle, when I buy a new firearm I often have modification plans even before I leave with it.
Sometimes some of us figure that an item designed to fit everyone relatively well will often fit a lot of people NOT relatively well.
Kinda like shoes or clothing. They don't make only one size fits all because one size does NOT fit ALL.
If they offered SKSs in different styles/dimensions right in the store maybe very tall people who have longer arms than mine or people who shoot left handed like I do, well we wouldn't feel the need or urge to modify OUR OWN rifles/items to work well for US.

So just to be clear, before I make any more trolls REALLY REALLY MAD...am I allowed to do what I want to my own stuff even if it doesn't meet your approval or even if it RUINS my own stuff? Or do I have to leave everything I buy as is? Like am I allowed to get a suit jacket altered to fit me better? Are there any specific colours I must avoid (in my clothing, guns, guitars or vehicles)?

Oh...I think I might have figured-out why that dip$hit is so mad...all these Bubba's SKSs are actually HIS?
OK that IS bad. People, when you borrow the Troll's stuff you really should NOT mess with it. No WONDER he's so mad. I would be too if I loaned all you weirdos my SKSs and when I got them all back they looked like THOSE.
It all makes sense now.
Here I was reading 22 pages of posts, all along thinking that you had all modified your OWN property. That is VERY bad form fellas. When you BORROW something from someone you have to return it in the same condition as when you borrowed it.

Me? Glad you axed.
I bought myself a (yes...it's MINE not borrowed from the retard. I actually PAID for it with my own $) SWEET '54 refurb about 6 weeks ago. $179. Man...you cant even get an eightball or a proper BJ for under 200 clams these days. Now that's some VALUE and FUN for chump change.
I put 20 rounds through it right away. It shoots straight. The trigger pull though...ever watch those strongman comps where they have to pull a bus? That is what my SKS's trigger is like. Again, it's MY gun. Am I allowed to tickle the sear/block a little bit to lighten and smoothen the pull?

I'm kinda OCD when it comes to "stuff". I cant just buy something and leave well enough alone. I have to take stuff apart. Mod it. Improve it. Personalize it. I just CAN'T seem to buy something and leave it stock whether it's a vehicle, music gear, or GUNS! I spend countless hours researching online (before and after buying) and then I research some more.
I was a machinist for just shy of 20 years so I understand mass production, tolerances, manufacturing...and so I also know that 99% of the time with anything mass produced there is room for improvement.

My SKS was stock for the first 20 rounds.
I wont post pics of it because it's just a normal old refurbed '54. Well it WAS. Now it's just a normal '54 in a normal Tapco Intrafuse stock.
And btw Mister BigBaby, all the mods are completely reversible and I did not throw the ultra-###y, super-rare, laminated 2-crossbolt stock and I left the bbq paint on the business parts. I also of course bought a 20rd mag. I'm probably gonna order a pair of 30rd mags as soon as I'm done here (next week at this rate..sorry for the rant).
I have coming: a 7.62x39 laser bore sighter. That will help with the sighting-in of the cheap 4x32 fiber optic red and green reticle scope I have coming (it also has fiber optic iron sights on the top of it) that will mount to the new (I know...bad method) receiver cover I also have coming.
I might even get a laser pointer jobbie for it one day after all the other stuff arrives and gets installed. :-O

NO, I'm not off to war. NO, Zombies are NOT coming to Alberta yet.
I'm just modding the crap out of my $179 SKS because I feel the upgrades I've done and am going to do are just that. UPGRADES. That and just because it's FUN. And because I feel that these mods make MY (remember, it is MINE) rifle look a lot more modern, mean, and "cool". They actually do make me shoot the rifle better too. Probably just due to the longer length of pull?
The stock stock(?) is laminated so it will not warp over time. A solid stock though can/will. A polymer stock aint gonna warp.
Ahhh...I'm not gonna go over each mod and explain why they make MY gun better for ME. Partly due to what your Mom tells you...it's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!! or...TO MAKE LITTLE BOYS ASK QUESTIONS.

While you're here though I need to know something else. If I buy a Mosin Nagant am I allowed to modify it or do I have to leave the full length stock on it? Actually, if you would be so kind to just post a quick list of ALL the things I am NOT allowed to do as I please with. That includes any houses I might buy, any music gear, guns, vehicles, appliances, clothing, footwear...hey am I allowed to paint the outside of my house or any of the rooms a different colour than they are now or must I leave them all original too in order to not make your Mom too mad?

I like my two naked and pure Ruskies.

A blonde 50' Tula, and a 54' Izzy redhead.

With regards to modding. I'm fine with it, as long as its not permanent and easily reversible.

My Chinese SKS came with no original bayo, no stock/handgaurd and no mag. An amputated orphan if you will.
So I used this example as a modding platform.
No parts of this rifle are in parts bin, since it was already pieced out, I only needed to add parts. So why not play with it... and it's become a great rifle that is longer and heavier than other SKS' and slicker looking than the usual black aftermarket SKS' IMHO.

I also own many guitars, amplifiers and speaker cabs. Some I have modded with pickups swaps, speaker mixing, vacuum tube swapping etc.
The key is to know which ones to mod, and which to leave be...
