I just read on mossberg website that the 25rd mag for the 715t is now prohibited in canada. Not that i care because its a waste of $ anyways. Just wondering if this is the case for other .22 high cap mags?

Mossberg was informed of what would happen if they released the pistol in North America using the same magazines

Mossberg came up with a solution for Canadians, send them the 25 round magazines and they will send you back 10 round magazines...........................................

Has any Mossberg 715T pistols made it into Canada yet? If not, does this still limit the mags to 10 rds? On the other hand, S&W really pisses me off...they release the M&P 15-22 pistol and then cancel it after a short time and we're still stuck with a 10 rd mag.

Wrong... check it out http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/bulletins/bus-ent/20110323-72-eng.htm.
Mossberg has now fallen into the same boat by using it as a pistol magazine also.

And no-where on that page does it mention the 715T. Its a gray area right now. Sooner or later someone will get busted. I have a feeling that we will be on the loosing side of this. Until I see an official bulletin mentioning that the 25rd mag is prohib ... enjoy at will.

PS: You better also inform the CFO's of this too if it is prohib. The CT in Pembroke has one in the display case !!

For a non-restricted .22LR firearm the magazine could extend down to your ankles and be legal.
For a restricted handgun 10 shot max is the limit regardless of whether the gun is .22LR or any other caliber.

I have seen these magazines sold at 2 different places lately. I heard about this and when I brought it up they assured me the mags were legal. I think it is a grey area. The RCMP also need to do more to make people aware of the change and at least require the vendors to do the same. If not, it's sneaky and it's also entrapment as far as I am concerned.

The RCMP is a big anti-gun spider weaving an increasingly intricate and complex web of technicalities to entrap gun owners.
A cop catches you with a prohibited device that you bought in good faith and you lose everything.
More pseudo-policing preying on the innocent because they don't have the will and the balls to deal with real criminals and need to justify their existence.
I used to look up to the RCMP as a kid.
What a corrupt, tarnished abomination they have become.
A bunch of uniformed thugs.

The page on the RCMP website gives examples only, the do not have to list everyone. Its what the regulation states that you have to worry about in court.

I can't find it at the time but there is a letter or fact sheet floating around concerning the 715T, yes it's not mentioned in the above link with the BX25 magazine but it very clearly stated those mags are prohibited..it also said the Mossberg claims to not be sending any 25's to Canada.

Of course they are here...but doesn't change the fact they are prohibited. Which of course, is silly as you can put 110rnds in your 10/22 but doesn't have to make sense.

Almost everyone has seen that. Everyone agrees that you get different answers when you ask, and even then the people answering are just people...not judges. It's sad, but the only real way to know if something is legal or not, is to take it to court (or be taken to court). Apart from that, the closest you get is a RCMP special bulletin.

Mossberg didn't send any 25 rounders to Canada after the pistol came out. That means anything in Canada was "intended for rifle only" and that would mean the limit doesn't apply. Businesses have to cover their ass (and Mossberg won't sell them more) so they just say they are prohibited.
