Good Day All,
This is my first post in this forum, and thought i would start with something that is of my favorite of topics.
I am curious what *eapon (editted, please read "utensile") would be suggested for extra long distances.
I currently employ 308 (7.62 Nato) for around the 700-1000yd range, with the expected grouping results (1-1.5")(EDIT - MOA).
What I would like to do, without getting into the .50cal swing of things, is find a reliable long-shooter that could reach me out to an accurate 1500-2000yd range, with a 19/20 on target hit ratio. (and i'm not saying i want pin-hole groupings either.....but rounds on target at that range.I like the accuracy and availability of the 7.62 rounds, and the amount of surplus available, as this allows me to put tonns of practice rounds downrange.
That being said, the further i reach out the more factors come into play that effect the flight path and ending punch on target.
I do know of a couple guys that have lobbed rounds out to rediculous distances with the 7.62, but i would like to take a bit of the calculations out of the picture, and go with a more flatter shot path.
Suggestions?.....experiences you've had with certain cal/ammo combinations?
Thanks.
