This isn't on every outting obviously.
I would say the average is about 65-70% success with groupings of that diameter.
Rounds on target are higher.....but looking like a 3 year old throwing crayons at a wall.
I have found that Surplus ammo isn't all that bad....although, i do believe i would get distinctively better if i was putting 1000 rounds of Federal downrange.....but that is at a cost 3-5 times more than Surplus.
Thx Cet*, definitely have enjoyed precision shooting (as i would like to call it) since i was a kid.
Got addicted to the "pop and result" when i was 8, and shot a butterfly from about 50yds with a 22lr.
There's nothing better than giving a light squeeze then counting 4,3,2,1 and watching the contact.
Good to see the emense knowledge base and welcoming info......
Mako22, first of all, welcome to CGN.
As far as your first and second posts are concerned:
1- Shooting, of any shape or form is a great sport, enjoy.
2- Lots of expertise on CGN, be polite, ask as many questions as you would like,
the guys are great and WILL help out as much as possible.
3- Most expert shooters on CGN have been shooting targets for many, many years, a mistake or (God forbib BS)
is sometimes not appreciated or welcomed. In my case, I'm just an old bastard !
4- As a newbie, you should take advantage of the expertise, some humility will go a long way.
5- I've been shooting for about 14 years, 308 in particular, have about $6,000 in gear and load my own rounds.
The best I can do, with $3,000 in optics is about 12" to 16" (on a good day) at 1000 yards. I cannot read the wind worth shyt.
6- If you decide to join CGN and take advantage of the wisdome available, I would let everyone know how much you enjoy
LR shooting and that you are willing to take some advice into consideration.
7- If you would like to go out and do some shooting with me, I would be happy to take you out. Be prepared to shoot
.4 MOA or better at 300 yards. Yes, I'm an old fart, but, at 300 yards I can still see and dont have to worry about windage.
Please shoot safely and most important, HAVE FUN !!
