Not one powder in stock for 9mm

8lbs of Varget??? I guess you must be a hoarder too.

Some people use the term hoarder others use different terms such as forward thinking.

A hoarder will clean out a store while a person who plans ahead buys a reasonable quantity when possible.
If the quantity he or she purchases is a little more than is needed a small surplus is built up.

Logically speaking it would be more economical to purchase 3x 8lb cans and be done with it since you save on the cost of the product and the shipping and hazmat but then you are labeled a hoarder.

While everyone else was looking for bullets last year there was plenty of powder and primers to be had.
This year while everyone is looking for powder I bought plenty of rifle bullets.

I have only been shooting for 3-1/2 years so I didn't have a stash to fall back on.
I have learned to buy when it is available rather than when you need it.
Let this be a lesson to you.

I stopped caring about being called a hoarder the moment I realized that the powder situation wasn't going to change any time soon. I got as much H4895 as wholesale had as my first in store powder buy about a year ago, bought 8 one pounders of 8202xbr when i was in bc last, along with four pounds of tac, just ordered another 8 pounds of H4895 and eight of Varget. Have a few others that I've only got three or four pounds left in. Shoot a fair bit, but i know if powder stopped being sold in Canada today, I'd have enough for at least two or three years at my current use, though it would get down to developing new loads near the end of it. Call me a hoarder, i call me forward thinking. I likely won't buy much for the next while, but then again, if I see something I use at a good price I'll pick up more. Having more than enough on hand means that I can wait until I find a good deal, instead of buying it at the butt-rape prices some dealers (and even some sponsors) have been asking. 45-50 bucks for a pound of Hodgdon or IMR powders is horrid. The most I paid for powder so far is the Varget, and that was only because there was no discount on the keg.....it was straight up 40 per pound, which is about my limit right now. I can understand asking a bit more right now, but some guys are going stupid. Hence, not a hoarder, economical ;)

Why doesn't anyone call the guys who buy surplus in big 50 pound drums hoarders? Cuz it's smart. If i could buy tac and 4895 in drums I would.

Calling people hoarders when overhead is so low and unpredictable is just some peoples way of hoping to scare off/guilt a little fewer purhases so they can grab some.

My god availability is horrible. I shouldnt have to plan my purhases 3 years in advance.

I'm just getting started with reloading and it's been a rather interesting experience trying to hunt things down and then, when I do find 'em, buying more than I expected to have to get... just in case I can't get 'em again for quite some time.

Does anyone even remember what a jug of titegroup looks like

I could send you a picture, I have 3 of them holding hands and they are something to see.

I was extremely forward thinking just before Bammy took office in 2008. I bought enough of the powder I use to last 5 years or so I thought. I have been so busy the last couple of years that the powder has lasted longer than I thought which is ok. I was in wholesale a couple of weeks ago and they had some varget just come in so I bought a jug of it. I have some stashed over at the in-laws and members of my family so I only have my limit at one location. As far as primers go I also stocked up on them when they were 30 buck a thou and bullets I make my own so I don't ever have to worry about bullets as I have 2.5 tons of lead in the garage. I would hate to be just getting into reloading now as it is hard to find stuff especially brass of certain calibers that wont break the bank.

Well, it sucks to have to start reloading at such a time.

During the last shortage, I had dropped my powders down to 2. WC 7735 and 700X. This satisfactorily covered my needs for rifles, shotguns, and pistol. Then a buddy gave me three pounds of WSL. I have since used up the last of the 700X and started on the WSL. Although not a great field load powder, it worked.

Two years ago, I saw this coming. I decided that I needed to stock up. I got 16 lbs of 800X for better field loads and 21lbs of WC735. It hurt me for months on money, but, I have not even thought about slowing down shooting, except this past year. But that was due to personal reasons, not shortages in components. I got years yet. Hoarder? Nope, Foresight. Buy cheap, stack deep.

^^ I felt like a hoarder the other day buying the last 3 bags of 100 .311 boolits at a local gun shop but I haven't seen .311's in 2 years, its impossible to build up a surplus on 3 bags/2 years so I don't know what that makes me haha

I know where there is a pile of Hornady .310 123gr sp sitting on a shelf.
PM me if you need to know. I believe they ship across Canada too.
