8lbs of Varget??? I guess you must be a hoarder too.
Some people use the term hoarder others use different terms such as forward thinking.
A hoarder will clean out a store while a person who plans ahead buys a reasonable quantity when possible.
If the quantity he or she purchases is a little more than is needed a small surplus is built up.
Logically speaking it would be more economical to purchase 3x 8lb cans and be done with it since you save on the cost of the product and the shipping and hazmat but then you are labeled a hoarder.
While everyone else was looking for bullets last year there was plenty of powder and primers to be had.
This year while everyone is looking for powder I bought plenty of rifle bullets.
I have only been shooting for 3-1/2 years so I didn't have a stash to fall back on.
I have learned to buy when it is available rather than when you need it.
Let this be a lesson to you.
I stopped caring about being called a hoarder the moment I realized that the powder situation wasn't going to change any time soon. I got as much H4895 as wholesale had as my first in store powder buy about a year ago, bought 8 one pounders of 8202xbr when i was in bc last, along with four pounds of tac, just ordered another 8 pounds of H4895 and eight of Varget. Have a few others that I've only got three or four pounds left in. Shoot a fair bit, but i know if powder stopped being sold in Canada today, I'd have enough for at least two or three years at my current use, though it would get down to developing new loads near the end of it. Call me a hoarder, i call me forward thinking. I likely won't buy much for the next while, but then again, if I see something I use at a good price I'll pick up more. Having more than enough on hand means that I can wait until I find a good deal, instead of buying it at the butt-rape prices some dealers (and even some sponsors) have been asking. 45-50 bucks for a pound of Hodgdon or IMR powders is horrid. The most I paid for powder so far is the Varget, and that was only because there was no discount on the keg.....it was straight up 40 per pound, which is about my limit right now. I can understand asking a bit more right now, but some guys are going stupid. Hence, not a hoarder, economical
Why doesn't anyone call the guys who buy surplus in big 50 pound drums hoarders? Cuz it's smart. If i could buy tac and 4895 in drums I would.
