Hey guys, getting excited for the season opening this saturday, I was just wondering if you were allowed to use lead shot on Canadian Geese or not? We will not be hunting over water, but in a field. Any insight?

Thanks

Unless you're one of a special few who can shoot them with (up to) a .22 cal rifle or use a raptor, its non-toxic shot or a bow and arrow for the rest of us.

Don't apply common sense. Lead shot is toxic to the fish in those grain fields.

haha this gave me a good laugh, essentially exactly what i was thinking. I figured so, but I had a box of lead shot laying around and wanted to see if i could use it or not. Thanks for the info guys!

Grouse burger with #2 lead goose shot....thats legal. So are the factories that put out more lead into the atmosphere from their pipes every day than waterfowl hunters would in a year. Clear as mud.

But lead weights are ok on down riggers , commercial fishing and sport fishing . It's very understandable .... Isn't it

...at least for now they are, there is a "push" to ban lead fishing weights and the topic resurfaces every once in a while. Not sure how many times you have to flush for these 3hitty ideas to go where they belong ...

Well really those are large enough that they aren't eaten by birds so It does actually make sense. Lead is a naturally element in nature. Its the edible sizes that present the real hazard.
