I just made an other one ! Lee Enfield No4 Shorty " tanker" carbine

To start dont worry ! This was made from a Bubba that could not be reconverted to original condition .

This is the second one I make and it is as nice as the first one ( that I have sold). I am proud of it and taught to share few pics while I still have it ( As I have the bad habits of selling everything) Lol !

I love the looks. I have made a few replical #5s from cut #4s but I like the tanker look to.

Honestly I have about $550 cash plus several hours of my time invested in it. Last one I sold in 10 min for $700 so if I let it go it cant be for much cheaper than that.

what is the OAL of the gun and what is the length of the barrel? Have you been able to chronograph any loads to see what a shorter barrel does to .303 british ammo and its velocity?
That is the NICEST looking "tanker" or short enfield I have ever seen. I would love to own that. Up for any trades? Holy Moly. Just a beautiful bear gun. And I'd certainly load it for bear.

To answer your questions, barrel is now about 18.5. the barrel was shortened the front sight base was machined and re-crowned by a very competent man who I have to admit is an excellent machinist . the wood and hardware are new old stock I bought from A friend and I did the modifications to the forearm and front handguard myself.

With a Jungle Carbine length barrel the foresight needs to be higher: the same height as the original Jungle Carbines, so-called. And with all the flash and bang, a muzzle cone like the Jungle Carbine has is a good idea too. I'm a little sorry you had to cut up NOS woodwork, but there's still a fair bit of that around I guess.

Nice hunting rifle! it would be nice if we could limit the cutting up of remaining NOS forends so we can use them to restore all the other sporters out there instead of making more of them.
