Hey fellas,
I was excited to go to the range to sight in my first precision rifle a Savage 10 fcp-k with a Bushnell ET 1040 scope and was very frustrated by what followed. I boresighted the gun a few days before I went to the range with a Bushnell boresighter. I was at an indoor range that was 50m maximum but when I looked at my target at 50m I could see the target perfectly but the reticle was so blurry I could barely see it. That compounded with the fact that my top turret was labeled right and left adjustment but it was really up and down and the side turret was also opposite was frustrating until I figured that out after I got home.
When I got the the gun home after no luck getting a good zero after 16 shots, I looked at some objects further away than 50m and everything was clear and crisp including the reticle after about 75m on out. Is this a byproduct of it being a fixed power scope with no focus adjustment?
Now that I have my backwards turrets figured out and the scope re-boresighted, I should be able to get a good zero if I can shoot at something at 100m. Any explanation as to the issues I was having? Thanks fellas.
