New Tavor looking like a demo rifle

No, just no. It doesn't matter if you're planning to fly out to fight isis with it, you paid NEW gun price for a gun that is new. Why should you get a used gun for new money and be happy with that? It makes no sense, if it does I've got a couple of sweet deals on cars for you.

This +100000

I agree new = unfired. He said it doesn't seem to be shot. Maybe one of the shops employees wanted to check it out so he could sell the product better... Was rushing and messed up screws. Idn, I understand where you are coming from. New is new. One small ding on the hand guard isn't a huge problem for me. If there was more problems then 100% would send back. As for the screws, tell em to send new ones. pretty simple.

I know the owner has paid good money for a quality gun. Ive done the same. Maybe it happened in shipping? If you want a 100% perfect gun. Inspect it yourself before hand. I drove 4 hours to buy my xcr-l keymod in tiger stripe green.
Mistakes happen, I have 0 doubt the store wont either replace or refund him.

Im just saying as a personal thing. I wouldn't be bothered to take the time and money to ship back and go through all the bs. Say hey, send me the new parts I need that I need to make the "new gun" you sold me or im going to plaster your crappy buis standards all over a site you spend money on advertising. Im sure if he sends this pic they will send him the screws and maybe some stickers or patches for free and apologize.

If there is a mark on the hand guard in that pic I cant see it... So I wouldn't worry about it..

Agree with that, personal thing as to what the limit is, it will be up to op and the dealer to come to an agreement as to what's acceptable.

Just a small point -- starting a thread on the internet and bashing before contacting the seller is usually considered bad form.

Yeah buying a new gun with an imperfection or two sucks --but it's ALWAYS best to contact the seller, and explain your position.

I have contacted them and if I can return the rifle then I consider the issue closed. I have not mentioned names as of yet. I have owned several business's and I am well aware that things can fall through the cracks, its how complaints are handled that determines the worth of the company. I have even offered to pay the shipping out of my pocket which is way above and beyond.

I have phoned two days in a row and emailed, Im not sure how much more is expected of me.

A new gun with a few scuffs, so what IMHO.

A new gun with blemishes that were obviously covered up shows intended deception by the seller. That's another ball game.

2 days is enough. It would seem , they're avoiding you.

It sucks, but if they're ignoring your calls and emails, best to just cut losses. Pick up some new screws, and discontinue business with them. Hope it works out for you man.

after you let everyone know who it was. So they don't make the same mistake. Give it a couple more days.

Sorry for your bad luck. That would pick my arse.
Some twit who isn't even qualified to operate a screwdriver was mucking with your rifle. And to top it off, he tried to hide his shame with a jiffy marker. Who knows what else he did.
If this were a Norinco it would be a easier pill to swallow. But IMO when you spend $2000+ on a rifle, it better not have stripped screws, and if it dose you should know beforehand.
I hope they do the right thing and give you your money back.
Either way, good choice in getting the Tavor. I haven't owned many firearms that I'd never sell. The Tavor is one of them. Awesome guns.

+1 on this ^^^

I have purchased a bunch of stuff on the 'net over the years - but only 2 firearms, and they were BOTH scuffed up (very clearly demo models).

Sometimes (many times) the deals we find on the 'net are tantalizing - but as far as firearms go, I buy in person / play with the demo model / then watch them open the box of the one I'm gonna buy!

This situation was likely caused by some go-fer told to 'throw a Tavor into a box and put this address on it'. Talk to the owner / manager and try to have it replaced - if he argues, send him to this post for the pics ...

that was why I posted what I did earlier. Trying to cover it up shows intent on someones behalf who handled the rifle before it was sold as new to hide the damage, This is why I would find it doubtfull that the seller will do anything for the consumer without telling them what is going to have to happen.

I paid with visa so I could contact them and get a chargeback if needed. I will wait one more day (im working tommorow) and then publish the name on the forum. All that they have too do is email me like they said they would.

I'd have posted the store already regardless of the outcome. Showing pictures of an intentionally covered up flaw is not slamming the dealer it's the truth and I'd like to know what shop sold it.

looks like im goning to have too. What bothers me is I have never misrepresented anytrhing before. If you look at my Itrader it says

......................Smooth transaction , bought two different items both exactly as described A+ sel .....................................................

(that transaction was for 2k)

why a retailer would say an item is new then ship demo/display models when they could have just have told us that and still make a sale is beyond me. This is pretty low. I might have bought it as a discounted item, I wanted a new from the factory rifle. Thats what I expected and I didnt get it.

Tommorrow morning I will make yet another call and then Im done. I will post the name here, If it was an honest mistake then he should take my call not tell his secretary to say he is busy. Pretty shamefull way of doing business.

Ok guys, I woke up to a email that said they were going to check out the tavor in stock and decide how to proceed. I had told them that I just wanted to send it back. I no longer wish to have anything to do with this company period. This is not a case of a few screws, this is someone selling demo/display rifles and not declaring them as such.

A quick search of Ontario Consumer Protection Act shows this:

PART III
UNFAIR PRACTICES

False, misleading or deceptive representation

14. (1) It is an unfair practice for a person to make a false, misleading or deceptive representation. 2002, c. 30, Sched. A, s. 14 (1).

Examples of false, misleading or deceptive representations

(2) Without limiting the generality of what constitutes a false, misleading or deceptive representation, the following are included as false, misleading or deceptive representations:

4. A representation that the goods are new, or unused, if they are not or are reconditioned or reclaimed

I read somewhere that the credit card companies will charge you for the full amount that you paid for the tavor AGAIN if they decline your chargeback. Not 100% certain on this...might wanna read up on it.

.

They didnt when I had my merchant account. They just took the money and then told you. As a merchant you have zero control over Visa or MC.
