Awesome service Ryan! I would be happy to take the rifle of your hands at the discounted price, I can live with grime and front screws.
Ok guys, I woke up to a email that said they were going to check out the tavor in stock and decide how to proceed. I had told them that I just wanted to send it back. I no longer wish to have anything to do with this company period. This is not a case of a few screws, this is someone selling demo/display rifles and not declaring them as such.
A quick search of Ontario Consumer Protection Act shows this:
PART III
UNFAIR PRACTICES
False, misleading or deceptive representation
14. (1) It is an unfair practice for a person to make a false, misleading or deceptive representation. 2002, c. 30, Sched. A, s. 14 (1).
Examples of false, misleading or deceptive representations
(2) Without limiting the generality of what constitutes a false, misleading or deceptive representation, the following are included as false, misleading or deceptive representations:
4. A representation that the goods are new, or unused, if they are not or are reconditioned or reclaimed
the touch up is to cover up the damage to the head of the screw. This damage is usually refered to as a stripped screw head as someone used the wrong size bit on it or was not careful. Damaged threads can also be refered to as a stripped screw and may be the more common use of the term but what do I know, I am just an ignorant auto tech.I didn't read anything about stripped screws. They were only touch-up'ed on the head with a black Sharpie. -500$....... OK I'll manage with the touch-ups lol
he is sending it back and it sounds like that is what he wanted to do from the begining after finding the rifle was not in new condition and at some point damaged and atempted to be covered up. His choice was easy and I would have done the same.$2 dollar replacement screws and save $500...hmm hard choice.
Technically speaking, a display firearm is still a new firearm, just FYI. Also, are you seriously not taking the new screws and the massive $500 discount?
Then the Consumer Protection Act disagrees with you. I would call them up and tell them to change the Act.
I dont want a discount, I want a new rifle.
1. Being a sponsor of a website doesn't make you an untouchable saint or at minimum a hero.
2. The complaint is not so much about a 20 cent screw but an investment in the thousands. I'm at the stage where I buy guns I never shoot. They had better be pristine.
3. Any dealer who makes good on this type of issue is one you should be dealing with in the future. I know I read these threads to see where these go. If the threads aren't tiriaqed and the issue resolved I'm very inclined to purchase from dealers who support their customers. It becomes win-win.
I think the business,s on here should be thanking us,we're keeping the rock out of the pot for them. This Forum is a cash cow for them ,yet some people go overboard thanking them for taking their cash, give me a break. I'm in the contracting business, and the customer always comes first, and when they pay me , I thank them! They pay my bills, sustain my lifestyle. ( They could have hired someone else)I completely agree!
At least were not seeing any more threads of : "Thank you retailer x for having shipped me the item I bought. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!"
what a joke some people are...

Anyone bought a tavor recently? Is the integrated front sight suppose to be slanted to one side when it is folded down into the rail?
That sounds un-normal. Pics?
Be sure to post a photo of your locally purchased rifle, so we can see what the screw should have looked like.
