best semi auto shotgun for self defense, what is your opinion

if buying a semi auto shotgun for self defense, these factors are considering:
a: less recoil
b: fast deplacement for new target
c: dependable
d:length, non restricted is the best to bring out for practice.
e: quality
f: easy to clean.
what is your choice?

I guess it depends what your trying to defend yourself from. But I picked up one of these, which I mention in the video is great for home defence, small enough for backpacking in the woods, and is probably more what you'd be looking for.

The best and what I use for a semi for home defence is a Dominion Arms Outlaw. Pulling both triggers at once makes it a semi some would say. Seriously though if you need more then two shots from a shotgun to defend yourself ya probaly should have brought out a black rifle cause your doing something wrong.
 
Ammo selection: I'm preferential to these versa flite/tite flite wads delivering the ammo. Hornady TAP, critical defence etc.

I found reliability with extracting some rounds questionable. Good gun for good price but do your homework to iron out the bugs.
 
Benelli M4 Super-90. 7-Shot mag & you can empty that gal without the muzzle raising an inch.

But I'm also in the "I don't entirely trust a semi" camp...LOL

You forgot one more factor:
G; does it look cool (the most important thing, you want to look good in the home video)
 
Most would say pump action is better for defense because its easier to recover from a malfunction or jam and it's a lot more likely to feed rounds in a dirty environment. There's a good reason military and police will stick with an 870 or Moss 590.

I stick by my 870 tactical but if you're really keen on a semi-auto, I hear a lot of good things about those fancy Benelli M4's.

I think pumps are more mechanically reliable in harsh conditions or where maintenance is an issue, but I've seen plenty of folks, including some shotgun "gurus", manage to short stroke and have other issues with them when shooting at speed under stress, especially when you throw in odd shooting positions.

The only reasons I still use a pump are that they're nonrestricted with short barrels, and you can sequentially port load them much more quickly, but strictly as a shooter I'd rather have a semi by far.
