I'd rather pay $1000 for a steel gun that lasts than $400 for a pot metal one that falls apart and can't be kept or resold.Just a note on the pot metal thing. Yes they are. But they have to be because the rimfire cartridge doesn't have the oomph needed to cycle the full size slide if it were steel. So pot metal or machined alloy is a must.
The use of cast alloy DOES hold down the price. If it were machined or forged and machined like the Kimber rimfire 1911 then we'd be paying up around $1000 just like Kimber charges.
Those 1911 rimfires are all made out of pot-metal. Might as well buy a hi-point 9mm and 45acp while you are at it.................. just kidding. They have a dismal reputation, buyer beware!!
Or just buy a Ruger or Buckmark and not worry
I will throw a vote in for the Walther/Colt 1911 as well. Mine has had around 2k rounds through it without a hiccup, and it likes the cheap Remington bucket o bullets
