Chiappa 1911-22 Is it any good?

Get a GSG instead, you will be way happier. And Chiappa does not always = Junk, their little M1 Carbine copy works well as does the AR upper I use for teaching.

Those 1911 rimfires are all made out of pot-metal. Might as well buy a hi-point 9mm and 45acp while you are at it.................. just kidding. They have a dismal reputation, buyer beware!!

Just a note on the pot metal thing. Yes they are. But they have to be because the rimfire cartridge doesn't have the oomph needed to cycle the full size slide if it were steel. So pot metal or machined alloy is a must.

The use of cast alloy DOES hold down the price. If it were machined or forged and machined like the Kimber rimfire 1911 then we'd be paying up around $1000 just like Kimber charges.

total junk, mine fell to pieces while shooting, always kept it clean and oiled. had around 2k rounds down the pipe when the recoil spring decided to jump out, causing the bushing to break

I'd rather pay $1000 for a steel gun that lasts than $400 for a pot metal one that falls apart and can't be kept or resold.

Handled both the Chiappa 1911 .22 and the GSG 1911 .22.

Bought the GSG 1911 .22 - Mine's got ~ 3K rounds thru it now. Changed out the stock bushing for a Colt steel bushing & put on soft Hogue grip panels but other than that she's stock. Been very happy with it.

Or just buy a Ruger or Buckmark and not worry

yup. Me and my daughter have a browning Buckmark Camper. We couldn't be happier. No problems with any ammo. Crazy Accurate !!
My buddy has a chiappa M1 and has feeding problems. Nice gun...if it would just function. Every 3rd shot jams.

I will throw a vote in for the Walther/Colt 1911 as well. Mine has had around 2k rounds through it without a hiccup, and it likes the cheap Remington bucket o bullets
