What's to fix, look great to me... they're cheap, shoot 'em, clean 'em and put away
I own two, I keep one original and I tapcoed one of them, its got a black bayo to go with the black stock, looks wicked
What was wholesale selling them for?
I know that when WWS on ST James first got a lot of SKS rifles I talked to a young guy there (who now works at Peavey Mart because too much bull crap at WSS due to the terrible work environment) and that guy actually picked through a bunch and pulled out a few Izhevsk SKS' for me to pick from. I got a numbers matching mint Izzy as a result.I guess I can just see all the flaws were the BBQ paint finish is scratched to metal. Not really I functional problem just aesthetic.
Here in Winnipeg the surplus SKS was on sale for $179.99 down from $219.99.
I think eventually I would like another one with wooden stock and original blued finish.
Haven't fires it yet but I got 1200 surplus Czech rounds from Wolverine Supplies which I will dig into this weekend. Also picked up some hornady SSTs for hunting whitetail when I am pushing bush.

If you want to cover up the scratches, degrease the areas with a gun degreasing spray or brake cleaner and touch them up with some Birchwood Casey Super Blue. It will blend right in with the BBQ paint. Then re-oil the surface and you are good to go.
It can yes, it can also remove bluing.I actually picked up some brake cleaner to clean the bolt, but am worried about using it as the can says don't get on paint.
Not currently on shelves at McPhillips or Kenaston CT. WWS sale is over and they will not pick through crate for you which sucks. Buy from site sponsor instead is my advice. Is this an in store only sale? Did you get to pick which one you wanted, I might have to go buy one, I was also going to check if CT still has them on McPhillips.

If I use it on blued parts I use it sparingly, then hit the area with oil immediately.
I recommend Remington Action Cleaner. Its almost exactly like brake cleaner, but safer in those aspects.

That sucks man. Those guys at the counter have poor work ethic. They don't want to work more than the bare minimum or get any cosmo on their hands. So jaded and disrespectful.Yeah the guy wouldn't even bring me out a gun without me saying I was going to buy.
I guess that's what happens when you think too long about a purchase.
