^Nice indeed! But 14inches of barrel would be perfection IMO.
Cheers.......

Iv ordered multiple times from skinner. From the previous and current owner. All times shipping and receiving the product was quick and questions answered in short order.Ive actually been thinking about one of these. Did you order directly from skinner? Do you recall the approximate delivery time?

How's that .44 workin for ya? Just wondering as I have a couple henry's but a .44.
I agree the rifle carries better without the scope. I've had great success with a Skinner barrel-mount ghost ring on mine. It was easy to install, works with the factory front sight and is more accurate and easier to acquire than the factory rear sight.

Would it be the general consensus (ha!) that a .44 mag lever gun is more than enough for black bear and mule/white tails if normal conditions like appropriate range, shot placement, familiarity with the gun etc. apply?
I am kind of split between picking up a 30/30 and .44 mag lever gun. I don't live somewhere appropriate for a reloading setup and you can't say no to a rifle that shoots 2 pistol calibers.

If you have the bolt and lever, then you need the semi to complete the Ruger set... if you trade either of your current guns, you will regret it and end up shopping again...
I did agree with you back there, but I have changed my mind. I never use these rifles and I have "frozen shoulder" that could last up to 27 months, so a s/a 99/44 Deerfield with the rotary mag would fit the bill nicely for me. I'm getting old and who knows how much time I have left. So, if anyone wants to work out a trade on their 99/44 Deerfield for either my M77/44 in Walnut or my 96/44 custom built heavy barrel lever action, then lets talk, I'm only a PM away.

well, I can't believe it, today I have a Ruger 99/44 Deerfield in my hands that I can call my very own! It arrived at the Post Office from a gun buddy in Kingston Ont! I took a poke off the deck right-o-way at our AR500 steel gongs at 25 yards out and I hit it! This is going to be a fun one, I'm sure. I just hope it will group half decently at 100 yards.
Please tell me that you still have the Ruger lever and bolt action .44's also... I really want to say that I am "so jealous" of that set...
P.S - nice friend... sounds like Doug...
yes, yes and yes! Doug is one hulofa good guy
He did include a B-day gift for me in the package, but it was not the gun, that I had to pay for![]()
