Nice rifles indeed, but you really should shoot the Browning 348 carbine, with reloaded Barnes X 220gr bullets, the ideal close quarters dancin" with bears piece I've ever had.Not too much, not too little, just right.... You saving all that fun for the next guy?

Good luck finding a Marlin CB 24" octagon at a reasonable price. There is one guy in the EE now asking $1500 for one!

Dont do it, get a mare's leg and replace the stock. You'd have to cut both barrel and mag... I think you already knew that

How do you like the lead sled?

I use it without any weight.
Tuff awn scopes.
There has been aggravated dizzkussions on the use of these things in regards to pewching scopes.
It will happen, just a matter of when and if yer number comes up.
Some days I like to bring my camera and the Sled does a better job of keeping the appliance upright.
Hate it when a shooter fawlls tuh the earth.

I'm no fan of lead sleds as they have accounted for many a broken stock when using heavy kickers. The cheapy lightweight MTM type work fer me.(No weight added of course.)
