Thought some here may want to know that this excellent reference book on Swedish military Mausers is coming back in print with a possible extra volume. This below was reported on another forum dedicated to Swedish Military firearms -


Hi All:

News on the book publication front. Crown Jewels will probably be reprinted late 2014 or first part of 2015 as there are 4 books in process right. There would be very few changes to the reprint. There will possibly be a second volume with all the new information that has since become available. So, please drop me a line with your ideas about what you think should be included in a second volume (or expanded first) and we'll see what's out there.

I got mine direct from the publisher labelled on the front cover of the book -

The author has said on another forum that a limited reprint of the first volume is under way for release this year and the much awaited 2nd expanded version is in the works but may now take a few years to compile the information and prepare for publishing!

Looks like the author may be having health issues and has not finished the new edition 2 volume yet, the first edition had a few minor incorrect statements and a lot of new info has come out since the first edition was written, so who knows when it will be in print and on the shelves again, he wants to correct the misleading data and add the new info.

I know the first volume is going for insane prices on amazon and ebay for used copies.
 
Damn, that's sad news all around. I hope Mr. Jones feels better soon, and eagerly await an opportunity to buy his book at a cost that doesn't involve sacrificing a kidney or a month's worth of groceries. :)
 
Quality reference books on firearms by recognized authorities have a limited demand and cost are high, but worth it. I've paid $100 plus for some of them and will continue to buy the ones that interest me. It beats the crap out of trolling the Internet for hard knowledge and coming up with a lot of speculation and conjecture.
 
I agree with purple, these books can be worth the money (I still won't pay $1000 for crown jewels), plus I like how they look on the shelf- oh yeah and the content is worth it too... I hope a 2nd edition of crown jewels comes out, if I can pay $200 for a university textbook, a book on something truly interesting is defiantly worth that.
 
I bought a copy of Cox's book, The Thompson Submachinegun, for $30 when it came out in 1982. Its now on Amazon for $585-$723. Talk about an original bible. I keep it in a padded envelope nowadays.

I have a copy of Crown Jewels and find it excellent. Didn't pay no thousand bucks though.;)

There are big fat and definitive books on the Lee Enfield by Skennerton and the M1 Garand by Canfield which are pricey, but worth it to a serious enthusiast.
 
I picked up a copy on gunbroker for $100.00 plus $35.00 shipping .Keep searching,there are copies floating around.

My only wish is to have a collector grade book on swiss rifles in english!Looking through 20 plus forums and websites gets a bit tedious.
 
I have a copy of crown jewels in Brand New, Unread and in Perfect Condition. I am thinking of selling but it won't be cheap. Most likely I will regret it.

Hi All:

At long last, Crown Jewels reprint will be available mid-December! Just received word today from the publisher, Collector Grade Publications. It will be an exact reprint of the original book. Book two is underway and promises to have lots of cool stuff, but the last book took close to 5 years. Will try to move this one along a little faster. Best Regards. Dana Jones
