Looking at some of the irungun specials in the US, I'm undecided between the Bushmaster or Colt special going on right now. This will be my first AR. I have a TAVOR, but I want a 16" and not a bullpup and obviously something a bit lighter.

Bushmaster:

or

Colt:

Looking for durability as well, I heard some feedback that the Colt's finish is very average. Anyone with feedback on which one I should get, I know they are 2 very decent beginner rifles, just hard to pick :)

You really can't go wrong with the price on that colt! I bought one too a few months back, modded it up.
I sure wouldnt qualify the colt as a beginner rifle, they are the standard, and the quality is much above the bushmaster.
The colt is made to be used up as a tool dragged through the mud and sand.

Colt over shrubmaster every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I don't think there is even a case for a debate here.

Nice job on that Colt, Mike. Very sharp.

Whatever one is cheaper. You'll likely never exceed the capabilities of either.

Save the difference and buy more ammo.

Bushmaster ROCKS by the way lol. I also love Colt AR's too.

Believe it or not, in the U.S. Bushmaster is the #1 distributed AR-15 ....Colt a close second. I've seen Colts that were poorly made, tool marks, sloppy selector movement, upper and lower not mated properly.

Some say Bushmaster was taken a dive in quality lately before becoming Windham Weaponry. ....but if you're lucky enough to have an older model, they're ROCK SOLID.

I bought by Bushmaster AR-15A3 16" HBAR (M4 Carbine 5.56mm) New in the box when I was 20 years old....I'm now 32 ;) fired MANY Thousands of rounds of factory 55/62 gr FMJ BT through it and is simply Amazing ;) Best 2K I've ever spent LOL. ..that's how much they cost when I was 20 before the market was saturated and everybody and their mothers started making AR-15s lol

Bushmaster ROCKS ;)

a question though, since it's impossible to reach IRG, do you know if they bill in USD if you order from their us site? I have a us funds CC that I would rather use so I don't get hit with the currency exchange.

Forget about getting restricted , get something simular to the AR platform in non-restricted , then you can actually use the rifle without dragging it to the range every time.....

Colt, hands down.

I bought another rifle off IRG earlier this year and paid with my US credit card. Once its in country you pay GST and shipping in Cdn. I put that on my canadian credit card.

Was very easy. I also found calling them was better than using email or PM...

Where in the world did you find the Noveske keymod rail?

Colt.....
But I will say the Remington made Bushmaster is probably better made today then the last few years Bushmaster was in business....they put out some real junk before they sold. I have an Ilion made 20" match A3 and everything is sweet on that rifle, even the single stage trigger was set up nicely out of the box.
