great gun

a couple of cons though....

I don't like the safety. it's awkward and easily knocked off or on........it should be eliminated altogether or replaced with a decocker like the sig sauer. a decocker would be a great improvement

also the fact that you can't dry fire it

and you can't find mags for it anywhere

Why can't you dry fire it?

Dlask is showing mags on their website for $40.

I order an x-trim! Does anyone know what exactly is the difference between the base model and the x-trim besides the front sight and the ported slide? Also is it true that the CZ 75 magazines work with the Mk12 if you cut a hole in the front? I have quite a few CZ 75 mags...

Ahh sh*t I wanted one for years and my birthday is coming up in November I think I could use a present :D

EDIT: present ordered lol

there's another forum that shows what happens when you dry fire the K100 a lot. the roll pin that retains the firing pin gets peened and can cause the firing pin to get stuck protruding from the firing pin hole. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to the forum but it's easy to find if you do a google search

I checked Dlask for mags but they're all sold out

the gun is great....just a few quirks that I don't like. nothing is perfect

The front amd rear sights re different. front is fibre optic. Same dimensions as basic model.

Internals of slide are different. Don't know specifics. I have both and can see a difference.

Mk12 has a take down button. XTrim may have the pull down trigger guard.

XTrim has a bigger mag release button. Functionally, both appear the same.

The standard thin safety levers rarely cause concern. The wide safety levers with the right back strap tend to suit most folks that shoot high thumb. You can mix and match.
As for a decocker, I'm sitting here playing with a K100 decocker right now. :)

You can dry fire the K100, interweb bs aside. Yes, if you dry fire long enough, you may eventually bend a $.50 roll pin. Cheaper than ammo and easy to replace people.... Apparently I don't dry fire enough. In 6 years I've not had to replace a roll pin yet. It's not for lack of trying.

As for the magazines and spare parts, they are always available from the factory. If they had been ordered by the former distributor, they would be available locally.

The X-Trim deletes the firing pin safety and the slide/barrel fit is slightly tighter.

You know you've got too many when you reach the point of choosing range sessions by make and caliber "this is a Browning 9mm range session...this is a CZ .40 range session....this is a Glock .45 range session".;)

I do that all the time and I don't have a ton of guns just good variety

I did a lot of reading online after I bought my K100 MK7 on an impulse last June (another Dlask clearance sale as the MK12's were coming). I didn't really come across much in the way of reliability concerns or negative comments. Where do you get the "spotty reliability record"?

My guess is from the Mk6 guns produced prior to 2010.

There were problems with cracked grips. The cause was often due to mishandling. Some users were trying to take the gun down by pulling the trigger guard straight down, rather than forward and then down. This stressed the ridge that the trigger guard locked into. Similarly, if users shot the gun with the trigger guard unlocked, the grips could be cracked as the trigger guard served as a shock buffer. With it in the wrong position, the slide in recoil would hit it early and in the wrong position.

The Mk7 grip strengthened this area and changed the trigger guard shape to help avoid user induced problems. When we introduced the .40/10mm/45 grip the locking lever system was adopted to eliminate to area of concern.

The early Mk6 guns still used an investment cast slide that was finish machined by CNC. While it was easy to spot external pores and scrap the pre-form, some internal voids might not be spotted even after machining. After some cracked slides, Jaroslav pulled the pin on using any castings and went to 100% CNC'd parts.

When STI were importing the K100 and P1 as rebranded GP6 and GP5's, they wanted to have a hammer profile that looked more like a STI product.
They supplied wire EDM hammers for those guns. Unfortunately the steel used for the first batch was overly hard and not ductile enough, and they suffered premature failures.
STI changed the type of steel used the second version ran fine.

The most recent issue was limited to a shipment of guns that went to the US via Century Arms in January 2013.

Two customers suffered barrel ruptures that didn't seem to be related to bad ammo.
When we investigated, it looked like the cause was the chemical makeup of the steel was not what the lab certification said.
The % of sulphur was higher than permitted in those barrels.
While it was likely limited to only a few of the raw barrel blanks we purchased from one of Europe's largest barrel makers, we recalled and replaced every barrel in that shipment.
It also accelerated our plans to bring barrel blank production in house.

I hope these sell out before I cave in.....so don't need another 9mm lol

thanks for the response. it's good to have a rep for the company answer questions on here.

I keep seeing that one Grand Power all over the internet where the barrel failed because of reloads....that and the barrel recall kind of put me off about the gun but I rather have a company do a recall than try hide a problem

it's cheaper to buy a Grand Power than a Norinco right now

Well, I pulled the trigger and order one, damn you CGN, I just got my license less than one month ago and I already spent over $6K buying firearms and ammunition (hell I don't have a range membership yet!!!). I was planning to get P226 MK25 in 9mm, now I will have the K100 and will still be buying the P226, I might wait a month or so before I buying it!!
