Well finally bought a t97. Loaded up some 55gr sp over 4gr of trail boss. I will take it to the range Tuesday and see if it will load on its own on setting two.
start with 15.6 grains of H4895 and a 55 grain bullet of your choice, then work up a half a gain at a time and see if you can get it to cycle.
You can reduce load any cartridge you can find H4895 loading data for by starting at 60% of the maximum load for a given bullet weight. Trail boss is not a pistol powder, it is designed for lead bullets in straight wall cases, however I have yet to get complete powder burn in anything and it is a fair bit dirty, switching to H4895 has been more then delightful, with both recoil and velocity. We have loaded for a 300 WSM from as low as 2550 fps up to 3300 fps depending on bullet weight using H4895. Shooting the WSM with the velocity and recoil of a 6.8 spc makes a guy giggle
same idea as the BLK, go with the heaviest bullet you can stabilize and run H4895 with, the adjustable gas port is a bonus, but be diligent, if you don't see a bullet hit down range be sure to check your bore............
Do you put in any filler with those or does it not matter that you are using such a small % of the cartridge capacity when using a pistol powder?
I was thinking of making some subsonic loads but there isn't a lot of data for them

H4895 sounds like exactly what I want. I don't really care about subsonic right now, I just want to be able to bring it to the outdoor range. Can't remember the max velocity allowed. Maybe 1300fps? If the trail boss doesn't cycle it i might try the h4895.
he meant indoor range, likely rated for pistols only, so if he can drop the velocity he should be good to go..........same rules as a range I used to belong to, backstop on the indoor range wouldn't handle low end 454 casull
