Hey there, folks.

I never expected to drop this kind of money on a scope, but I went for it.

But... there is a thing. Anyone seen anything like this before? It's only visible at low magnification.

Thanks for the help,

D

Edit 10 December, 2014:

Prophet River and/or the Korth Group, and/or Leupold sent me a brand new scope! I won't hesitate to buy from any of those three organizations.

No idea what that could be, but I wouldn't accept that as "normal". Xpresspost it to Korth Group (Leupold service/repair) in Alberta for assessment and subsequent repair/replacement.

Leupold/ Korth has a great warranty program. Call the retailer you bought it from and exchange it. For what a VX-6 costs, that is definitely unacceptable.

It is unacceptable for just about any price range scope...

Dint these high end scopes have a levelling device in the lense like a level bubble?
Yer can'ttit clockwise a bit.
Go back a wee bit see if it comes to the top.

looks like sealer or resin

How much is that scope worth?

That makes a ton of sense. Sealer or resin. $1150. I got it from Prophet River, so I'm covered. Great people, lots of integrity. I just want to make sure PR doesn't lose any money.

Great tip on the repair centre. Thanks.

I tend to agree. Cheers.

is the elev maxed out in either direction? On my falcon on lowest power if you lowered the reticle too far you got the shadow of the bottom of the tube showing. Once you raised the elev some the shadow went away and a full image was seen.
If thats not it, send it in, it could be no big deal or it could be a potential leak in future.

Man some people are PICKY. ;)

Personally - I wouldn't send it back for that. I know most will say 'It's new, it should be PERFECT', but I guess I'm just easier to please than most.

If it was right across the middle or something - absolutely - but only in the veeeery top corner, only at low magnification? Wouldn't bother me.

It "could" also be a cemented lens pair (doublet) that is in the early stages of separation. Extremes of heat and cold can cause this as can heavy knocks/vibration. It is unusual and unlikely but not unknown. I would most definitely have it serviced as soon as possible for peace of mind or you could find a hunt interrupted as a result of this .

Boy, have I got some great stuff to sell to you lol. You do realize that this is a $1300+ riflescope right? It's not a $40 Tasco that he took on trade for a box of .22 ammo...

Decision made! I'm sending it in straight away

Not according to hunterhenderson's canucklehead's and (ahem) my profile, old bean. Cheers!

I remember when the old forum pooped the bed, and we all waited for the email saying we could join the new forum...

NO NO .... I meant MY "join" date : 03-22-2004

not your date:3/12/2004

:) :)
