what does ownership have to do with ones experience with a rifle and how do you determine outside of quebec where there is no long gun registry?

For example, other people in your household and/or family also buy/own firearms but rarely shoot them but you have cart blanche access and use of them.

I don't know, doesn't seem like its happening, almost a year since announced now.
I don't even think it has gone through the firearms lab frt thing yet, that who knows how long that could take, another 16 to 24 months?
 
Don't get ACR If you don't want to spend extra $1000, heavier rifle or the waiting for longer NR barrel.
Get XCR if you mind the above mentioned points.

I have an XCR-L
It's a bit front heavy so I put an Aimpoint Micro H1 on it to avoid any additional weight. I have about 5000 rounds through it without any failures. I have never put Loctite on it. I have no complaints. I won't sell it unless I buy another one first.
 
Had the same debate couple months back. Money wasnt and issue either. Decided to go with the XCR held it once in Edmonton (light barrel/ railed) and i thought it was awesome, bought the keymod and loved it even more. Haven't handled and ACR, so I cant really make a fair comparison, but I can definitely say that the XCR is NOT front heavy.
Been able to get 2MOA with Handloads consistently, maybe a hair below.and 3 moa with Norc.
Only issue I had was the gas block screw was not set very tight and came loose once, no damage just a fte. Other than that I havent had any problems not user created. Probably 2K through it since end of august. Well shouldnt say no problems, it has created an empty void where my money used to be since i spent it all on ammo.
Now im a tall fella and single point works quite well for me, but under 6' I could see an issue, it aint tavor short.
some people don't like the stock, i personally think its quite fine, good cheek weld with a burris MTac 1-4x.

I have two XCRs and an ACR. Both platforms are good. I can't compare them directly, as all three are in different calibers with different barrel lengths, but I'd have a difficult time choosing which to sell.
 
Hummm well guess I still have a lot to think about... I frankly still dont know what to do and its a lot of my saved money to make a bad decision on.

I've had a XCR for about 5 years now and it's been great, I wasn't so sure before I bought it because of some of the reviews but I have thousands of my reloads and AE through it and have very little problems with that ammo.(only once it went click instead of bang and that was because I had case separation with a reload, can't say if that was the rifle or the ammo?)

I ran a case of Norinco through it and had some failures to chamber, about 10-15 out of 1120. I never did check the ammo to see if it was out of spec but that would be a pretty safe bet.

I've been eyeing up a ACR over the last couple years and have came close to buying one a few times but if I did I would keep the XCR, it's been a solid rifle and earned it's spot in the safe.
 
Sl8? Have an xcr like it a lot. But just recently handled a sl8, was quite surprised by how it felt and pointed even with the silly thumb hole stock. May be next to become the partner to my xcr. Was saving up for a tavor but the sl8 may have just bumped it. Have not fired one yet will have to start going to range more and keep my eyes open for one.
 
I've shot the XCR many times, but never owned one. I wanted one for a while. My first challenge was SL8 or XCR. I chose the SL8 and I couldn't be happier. After a few years I was able to find parts to make it a G36k conversion (Restricted). Then I was in your shoes, ACR or XCR and after firing both I decided to grab the ACR. I know bushmaster is slow and those promised barrels are nowhere to be seen, but I think this platform will have a larger future. People on the ACR forums are making ACR billet lowers with various features, like AK47 Magazines, new butt stocks, like the PWD Stock that I want to get, a few handguard prototypes. Plus Bushmaster will one day release more products. I think the ACR platform will be as customizable as the AR platform one day. If I had a CNC machine I would make a few parts. Simple ACR to AR15 butt stock adapter. Once bushmaster releases their "plan" (barrel kits, stocks, handguards) the industry will follow and make after market products. This might be several years away, but I'm happy with the factory and aftermarket parts that are currently available.

I vote ACR.

Upgrades are expensive but the SL8 is an awesome rifle. I've owned 2 of them and the last one had the HERA ARMS gen 2 lower with an ACR folding stock, other than the muzzle heavy feeling (which all these rifles suffer from) you really can't go wrong. Mine were reliable and both were sub moa with the right ammo.
A used SL8 with a HERA lower and AR magwell adapter would cost around the same as an XCR and would be cheaper than a NR ACR by a few hundred dollars. I only sold mine because I wanted to be able to run multiple calibers. I have 3 NR barrels for my ACR (223, 300BLK, 6.8SPC).
 
My opinion on the sl8 is yes its a good rifle but frankly it annoys me, all those gimicky adapters and addons to make it accept AR magazines really really annoys me, if you are going to sell a semi auto rifle that shoots 223 by all means make it use AR mags from the start, stupid germans. A company like HK should know better. So SL8 is not a contender. Thats just my opinion guys, I know its an amazing shooter for accuracy.
 
I've got both and find the ACR my go to. The ACR is heavier but more accurate & a lot more fun.
I've put over 4000 rounds through the Bushmaster with no failures, it is simply an awesome semi.
Ease of disassembly / reassembly best of all guns I've owned.
The ACR is front heavy so any accessories forward of the center of gravity will accentuate this.
This is also the first plastic gun I've owned, tough as hell.
Of course I added a Havoc 37mm launcher @ Dbal.. Getting heavier
