Tavor or xcr-l ... Christmas is coming

A couple of guys your height run Tavors at our local BR matches and they love them.

For general plinking and running around I would recommend a Tavor. I find the XCR is quite barrel heavy, while the balance of the Tavor is great.

That said, if you're competing in 3 gun or Black Rifle matches I would recommend the XCR... While ergonomic the bullpup design makes it difficult to conduct mag changes and stoppage drills quickly... The controls are too tight into your body and you can't use peripheral vision to manipulate the weapon. No matter how well drilled you are the same amount of practice will make you faster on a conventional rifle where you can see the controls...

With the Tavor prices at $2500 I don't think I can say no anymore. I've shot an older XCR and it was great. I've only held a Tavor and I didn't really want to put it back down. I'm 6'4 and it was more than comfortable to shoulder. I'm going to wait and see if some good black Friday sales come up.

While this is true of many bullpups (especially the T97NSR from factory), the Tavor really breaks that chain... I know I wont change your mind, but i think it needs to be brought up so this isn't a slanted discussion.

What are your shooting goals? If you're just plinking at the range than the Tavor is a great choice, but if you want to reach out and start trying to shoot out past +300 the XCR is going to fit that roll better. Ergonomics make for a better supported prone firing weapon, the Tavor is designed to be a small maneuverable platform without sacrificing barrel length.

Tavor is the most fun for plinking, I like it better than my Colt Canada C8..... and it look ###y as hell...

I don't see either one being accurate at 300+ yards, they were not designed to be MOA guns or even close.

(because ignorant opinions/perceptions, are in majority and .: relevant) Wish the xcr had stayed away from their whole "modular e-z swap" idea. Trying to accommodate calibre-switches, took away from the accuracy and reliability of what "could have been" This makes it seem more like an over-priced Kel-Tec, than a serious contender for NR top spot. While the light barrel keymod is still pretty cool, it's the price! They're basically priced the same, and for that reason, it's Tavor all the way.
Another general perception out there, is that neither of these NR rifles are anything worth bringing home to momma, in the accuracy department. 3-MOA (imo) is about another 3-MOA or so, from being on par with my recurve! For $2500 for either of these rifles to be 3-MOA...BOOOURNS!

I know Santa brought me a shiny new Tavor for xmas a little early this year, Well maybe it wasn't santa but he was a big fat guy tho. As for going restricted/prohib I thought that new gun laws are going to prevent that kind of sillyness. The Tavor has been ruled a non restricted weapon years ago and the new law prevents the reclassification of stuff after its been classified.

except this law isnt a law yet ....

Lets be realistic folks. The only way they are going prohib is if the RCMP really want to stir the pot. The Tavor is nearing the expense of the SAN rifles and has a lot closer # of the followers as the CZ's.

The Tavor has been getting quite the strong following in the past 2 years, and North Sylva has been doing all they can to keep supply and we still go through some dry spells.

Are we going to do a new Tavor or XCR thread every week?

Tavor of course, unless of course you don't like bullpups then get the XCR.
And if you like better accuracy then spend more money and get an ACR and then spend more money and have it made non restricted.

nearly in the same boat , but i fall more on the side of the xcr because of the cheap 7.62x39mm ... too bad they dont make the tavor in this caliber

Too bad they make any rifle in that caliber other than red rifles.
You can afford $2500 for a rifle but you can't afford decent ammo?
