Ultimate Hand-gun collection - one for every caliber

That is an admirable list to acquire but you will find it impossible to locate a 410 gauge as it doesn't exist. 410 is actually a bore diameter: Gauge is an old system of measure where the number of lead balls that equal a pound determine the gauge: eg. There are twelve lead balls of the caliber of a 12 gauge (cylinder) that add up to one pound (1/12th), twenty lead balls the diameter of a 20gauge (cylinder) bore diameter that equal a pound (1/20th) etc. A 410 bore would equate to about 67gauge.

If I had 12(6) I'd love to have a Walther PPK in 32acp and a P230 in 380acp - Both are gorgeous guns with comely lines. Different than Beretta lines, but mmmm... on that note, Beretta 92 series in 9mm Luger.

41 mag in a stainless Smith and Wesson revolver of course (m657) - unfortunate this caliber is so neglected.

Bond Arms Ranger and the Taurus Raging Judge both shoot .45LC and .410 ga

.25 ACP is not prohibited, neither is .32 ACP,.32 S&W etc.
Only handguns chambered in those calibers are deemed prohibited. There are exceptions made for certain target arms in .32 calibes.

Ruger made a .30 carbine revolver.

Is that a joke? .25 is prohib. So is .32, but we can it via a Skorpion, as long as we call it a 'rifle'.

.30 carbine pistol? Is that common?

Awesome. Thanks for all the replies so far guys. There were several calibers I added thanks to your suggestions.

I'm going to start adding guns to the list. It's be my preference obviously, but feel free to state what yours would be.

How am I going to shoot .25ACP ammo, if I can't get the hand gun for it? I appreciate the reply, but perhaps I should've mentioned that I don't have a prohib licence.

.30 Carbine added. Thanks

I BELIEVE there is some high end "match" or is it "target"? pistols that are in both .25acp and .32acp that are non prohib. These are the ones with the large wooden grip that covers a large portion of your hand when gripped.

Both Ruger and Taurus have made revolvers in .30 Carbine...both in limited numbers but they have a following.

To add to some other comments .38S&W (.38-200) is not EASY to find...but it is not "hard" either...my local gun store always has a few boxes and it can be found online, lots of old Revolvers in country that shoot it as we were a common wealth country for the British in WWI and WWII!!! But it is getting close to $1/shot. I just a full box of Remington .38S&W to a guy a few months ago.

Very good research. .32 is prohibited in Canada and the 410 is 2 3/4 only if not mistaken. This is hard to find where I live. Must order to get it.

.410 ONLY comes in 2 1/2" length and 3" ...although not much is gained for the extra 1/2" in your shot grouping I have noticed when I did some .410 patterning tests...but they DO cost a lot more!!!

To the OP...

Maybe consider getting handguns that can shoot a multitude of different calibers?

Examples...

- A revolver in .357 Magnum can also shoot .38 Special (which is well known)

- A Revolver in .44 Magnum can also shoot .44 Special and the more old/rare .44 Russian

- A Ruger Single Six convertible can shoot .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle ...switch out the cylinder and you can also shoot .22 Magnum

- A Smith and Wesson 460V revolver can shoot .460 S&W Magnum and well .454 Casull and .45 Colt/Long Colt (depending what you want to call it) AND can even shoot the more old/rare .45 S&W Schofield ...get this gun moon clipped (or not and just shoot .45 Auto Rim) and you can also shoot .45 Auto from it...now THAT is a lot of calibers in one gun. (You MIGHT even be able to shoot .460 Rowland in it with the moon clip conversion as well)

- A Taurus Raging Judge Magnum can shoot the .410 shotshell in both 2.5" and 3" lengths as well as the .454 Casull and the .45 Colt/Long Colt, the .45 S&W Schofield (see above) as well as ditto for the moon clip conversion (or just .45 Auto Rim) for the .45 Auto and the possibility of .460 Rowland

- A 1911 in .460 Rowland can shoot .45 Auto just fine

There are many more (mostly revolvers) that can do this I am sure, this is just some of them.

*** Remember that shooting a different caliber will require a sight adjustment or a different sight hold as well as you should ALWAYS clean the cylinders of a revolver after shoot lots of the shorter rounds that can fit ie. after shooting a bunch of .38s you should scrub them out before going back to .357s!!! ***

ADDED - a Smith and Wesson revolver in 10mm Auto (forget the model number) is made to take moon clips (as 10mm Auto is rimless) so it can also fore .40S&W :p

.22 remington jet magnum offered in the smith and wesson revolvers in the '60s. Was quite popular then?
What about now?
Disappeared almost entirely. Ammo's impossible to find, but brass and bullets are still available to the determined reloader. I shoot a Smith & Wesson M-53, it's fun.

Other than that I believe there were some T/C Contender single-shot pistols in that chambering.

Oh, absolutely. If I had a S&W 629, I'm not going to buy another gun, just to shoot .44 special. That's why after some of the calibers I noted "secondary caliber". Of the original 30 calibers, I figured it could be done with about 24 guns. (of course, more calibers have been added).

I did say this was a 'fantasy collection'. If I was to really do this, it would take a long time, some saving, some spousal convincing and possibly some RCMP hassles.

I, like many others here fall into the .45 vs 9mm conundrum. And like many others, I figure the answer is to get both! But then you want a .40. And then a nice old wheel gun in .45 LC. Then a .44, a .460, some of big badass .50's, and the list just keep growing. Next thing you know, your mid-life-crisis-dream-sports-car is in about 2 dozen plus pieces in your gun safe :d

I am trying,

Pistols: .22x6,9mmx3,.40x3,.45x5,357mag,44mag,460rowland (ordered). trying to get 357sig and 10mm.
Rifles:.17hmr,17super mag,.22lrx6,.22mag,.223,.243,7.62x39x2,308,30-30,30.06,300 win mag
shotguns:410,12 gauge x5

I know I've seen a 45-70 handgun somewhere. Just can't remember who made it.

I would have no desire to fire such a monstrosity.

Well.... maybe once.
