So the importer that brings in crap......who is it? Maybe your direct local competition. To the OP, you can't go wrong with any of the Russian or Chinese SKS's on the market today. The best thing to do is go to the local dealers and pick out your own rifle, then you will not be disappointed with what you receive in the mail if you decide to go the mail order route.Canada ammo does not sell Russian Sks. As to Reliable, Wanstall's and Hi caliber and lots of other small stores in Vancouver all of those stores will not sell you crap.
As to importers of Sks there is only three importers in Canada and one brings in crap.
Al
CanAm sells Russians, the 1950 Tula I bought from them is proof of it.
Op, buy from reliable or lever in confidence, last couple visits to reliable they had nice parkerized sks on the rack but no blued versions. Lever always has both finishes as well as laminates and birch stocks. You can't beat levers $375 sks and 1320 end crate of ammo combo, plus you get to hand pick your rifle.
Ha, I was there today and was told that you can pick a few from looking through the case but can't look at all of them (there were about 30 in the case). Don't know if that sounds reasonable but I was kind of miffed that they don't have the time to let you look through 30 rifles.
Haha, I guess results may vary. Although I've never had them say anything like that to me but I've always known what year of sks I was picking out as well as if it was laminate or birch. I've bought one from them and helped a friend pick 2 plus ammo and some cleaning gear, so I guess they remember I've spent or helped people spend some money there. Who knows, maybe buddy hadn't had his morning coffee yet?
