Chinses Ammo Surplus Corrosive or Non Corrosive 7.62x39 9mm

so just to check norinco 7.62 x 39 ammo is non-corrosive right?

Norinco stuff that comes in a box may be non-corrosive... the stuff that is in wooden crates and spam cans is corrosive... Norinco is commercial ammo.. Chinese is military... Chinese is Corrosive.... thats how I understand it.... someone correct me if I am wrong.

I believe Lever Arms was selling corrosive ammo in green crates.. and advertising it as non-corrosive... some people didn't clean their rifles.. and they discovered heavy rusting.

The Norinco I got came inside of 20 pack boxes, inside a spam can, inside a crate

same as mine, got at reliable gun marked as non-corrosive 1440 rounds for 250. havn't noticed any rusting...

20 round boxes or 20 round paper packages? The big thing to look out for is the middle number of the stamp on the crate, which is the date of manufacture. If it's something like 31-71-90, ie made in 1971, you're probably going to have some corrosive mixed in at some point, even if the first few rounds you run through are non corrosive(ask me how i know).
If it's in cardboard packages that clearly say "non corrosive" on the side, then you're good to go, but real non corrosive 7.62x39 wasn't made in bulk untill the mid 90's, so anything made in the 70's be wary of.

Yes mine is boxes, dated 95

Just to be clear this mislabelling of corrosive ammunition only applies to these two specified calibres? The Norinco 5.56x45 which is being sold in crates, in spam cans, in 20 round cardboard boxes is truthfully non-corrosive?
