What makes them so "special"?
It has to do with all the extra US NAVY things they added to ensure it would survive the rigours of maritime operations with the sailors in NSW.

Perhaps - and I'm guessing now - there are a significant number of shooters who need "over the beach" capability to get to and from their approved ranges??
Still no answer.....i need to know from the guy that paid $400 for the anchor. Also not a Glock vs Sig or a Ferrari vs Lamborghini, just i don't understand how they can sell a moon racket to the guy crying about the gas prices.
You are sigboy so correct me if I am wrong but the mk25 has phosphated internals where the standard one does not, from what I recall the mag springs still rusted from use in maritime places from an ex seal. For me I think it's dumb, a standard works fine with trijicon hd(my sight of choice.)
Don't forget, comes with short extractor, not a big deal to most.
RM
Short extractor is actually more reliable and durable than the long one.

I can make it more clear, dollar for dollar: (all dollar values approximate; may not represent best value in your area.)
Sig p226 @$999.00 w/2 mags
+ night sites @$155.00
+ extra mag @$45
+ mil spec 1913 rail @$$$
+ fully nitron coated @$$$
+ cosmetic anchor @$$$
= $1199.00 which, coincidentally, is what a MK25 goes for. Not a bad deal, overall.![]()
