The .308 debate. What would you get?

I sold off my XCR-M to cover some purchases, but I'm starting research options.

Oddly enough my only real request is to stick with the .308 pmag. That means either a restricted AR 10, or some form of non restricted .308 options (which aside from the XCR-M I'm not sure what there is).

I've kind of looked towards the LMT Mws and the SiG 715.

What are your thoughts?

Check out the ATRS modern hunter, non restricted .308,260 rem,243 etc. Pricey but should be worth it, lots of custom options from carbon barrel, handguards etc.

You could get an ATRS Modern Hunter or you could spend half that much for a restricted AR-10 for your semi auto 308 fun and then buy an even more accurate bolt action for hunting and still have money left over for ammo.

Kel-Tec RFB never gets mentioned anymore... kinda faded away.
What's the CGN general consensus on it?

---------------

Never mind, I just realized they use different mags.

Mine was awesome, 100% reliable and accurate enough for hunting out to 300 yards. Great rifle for slinging over your back for an afternoon on the quad and perfect while walking through the bush.
As long as you take the time to learn and understand the gas system the rifle can be set up to run any ammo you can put in the mag. I had handloads from 110gr through 178gr and could set it up to cycle them all smoothly.
The worst part about the RFB is the price of the mags. They are $15-$20 in the US but by the time they put a $0.05 rivet in them and import them they go to $55-$60 if you can find them.
I only sold mine to pay for a new toy and there are many days I look back and wonder why I ever let that one go.
If you buy it thinking you are going to shoot MOA or better groups you will be disappointed but if you can live with 1.5-2 moa you will be very happy. The best I got from mine was 1.5 with a couple different handloads. Getting 2moa or better from factory loads will take a little experimenting to find the ammo your's likes best, some factory will probably be around 3 but the rifle is capable of better if you find what it likes.

Honestly I wish I could get an SR25, but the restricted status is bugging me, so the atr modern hunter is really the only option left, but you're looking at a very long wait time.

So restricted definitely an SR25.
Non restricted ATR modern hunter.

Determine your budget and then pick your poison:

KAC SR-25
LMT MWS w/ss barrel
LesBaer
Larue
GAP10
DPMS G2
Armalite SASS

Until the ATRS has 10's of thousands of rounds downrange from multiple owners, isn't it fair to hold out and see what it can do in the 1st place?

Yah, you're right. Best to wait and see before dropping 3-4k on a never tried rifle.

Do the 10 round xcr mags or the 10 round AI mags fit in the SR-25?

A .308 rifle was made to go far! I'm a big fan of NR status for that.

LMT MWS, KAC SR25, HK MR308 - the only three DM type rifles that have history out in the field and you can buy them in Canada.
