Can you?
No.
Can you?
My rifle is sub moa. And I shoot supported at long range or I don't take the shot! Your little test makes no sense
they said the new "longest yardage max" for ethical hunting is now going to be limited and enforced to 300 yards. It's going to be in the 2015 hunting regs. Who here can master that and with what cartridge can you do it with? I'll be going with the 7mm-08 to a max of 200 yards. Eye sight and steadyability is weakening with my old age! What are you younger guys capable of?
I hope that's not the case, it would be stupid and unenforceable. Even though a 300 yards may be a worthy personal limitation for shooting game under ideal conditions, ethics are a personal matter that cannot be legislated. Why would it be unethical to shoot a deer at 350 yards with a scoped .280 Ackley, but by legislation, ethical to shoot at that same deer at 300 yards with an open sighted .44-40? Why would a quarter mile shot in bright, clear, no wind conditions, be unethical while shooting from 100 yards in an 80 click cross wind, that rocks you even in a supported kneeling or sitting position be ethical? Why is it ethical to mindlessly blaze away from 300 yards, but unethical to fire at an animal 536 yards away from a rock solid supported position, having frequently shot off season at long range in preparation for that moment. It makes no sense, its an armchair bureaucrat's wet dream, with no basis in reality. Hunter ethics are best left to those in the field. Hopefully Selinger is on his way out . . . soon.
not at game but offhands to 1000 is good practice
Good practice for what? We are talking about long distance hunting here right?
Arguably offhand is the most difficult position, if you can't do this then you must get closer, use a different position ( shooting sticks, cowboy hat, prone, hood of your truck)...whatever. So your limit may be different with what ever scenario is presented. YOU MUST KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS
I would not worry about it, two-dogs was just stirring the pot!
Good for a 425 yard offhand kill shot , practice gave the confidence and skill to pull it off. YMMV
Who'd be in for a BC "prove it" competition? I shoot LR quite a bit, we built a 1,000 yard private range and use it a lot. Yet to witness a shooter who can always hit a paper plate at 500 off hand with a hunting rifle, no misses no exceptions. 425 eh off hand and repeatedly... You are a god amongst hunters. This I need to see, I transit through PG roughly monthly, open to a friendly?

as Johnny Ringo one said: "I was just fun'en"
yes Boomer, I do truly believe in my heart that the NDP will be on their way out on their azz, soon!
Last year there was a shoot off between to shooters, 24"gong @1040yds offhand, 5 consecutive hits to 4, it wasn't me but a guy with a wood and blue hunting rifle, he won it the year before with 3 consecutive shots.
Win 94, 30-30?
