has anyone tried instaling one of the Magwedge quick rails on a VZ58?

I found a similar issue with the BC Tactical handguards.

I witnessed one fit perfectly, while mine had to be shoe horned on, and a small amount of material was removed to allow this. Now its tight as hell, which I think is a good thing as it is a near perfect fit, but the down side is if I ever sell my handguard it would be "damaged goods" as it has been modified. A friend with the same model rifle as me had a hellacious time installing his and he is a fellow who is quite conversant with tools and fitting stuff.

So I conclude that we may be at the mercy of inconsistent specs when it comes to the Vz rifles.

I have had a few prototypes mounted for testing and so far they have all fit well enough. The only problem I have seen so far in one (and only one) of them is a very small amount of side to side play where the front end mates with the rear sight base. Its a bit annoying but surprisingly enough appears not to have an effect on groups. I tested it last weekend just to be sure and there seemed to be no accuracy issue. I expect we will get complaints about any amount of movement so I will see if we can produce some shims just in case they are needed by customers. The gap was well under a millimeter tho, so we may need some very fine shims indeed.

Update on Vz kwikRail

Ok guys, still am not "allowed" to post pics (danged lawyers, anyways) but I can tell you I will be seeing the machinist tomorrow to get some final details sorted and possibly make a small run of these. Now, given it's the Christmas season and all, there is a time crunch, but we should see some of these early in 2015.

There will be a limited supply in this first run as I have a few other irons in the fire tying up cash, so if you really want one I suggest you scoop it up fast.

I have had folks messaging me and threatening to place multiple orders! So be advised ... LOL

I promise to post pics when I am "allowed" ... very exciting product news ahead folks!! :dancingbanana:

If i owned a nice wood finished VZ58 like you... I would be putting an AK side rail on the side and slapping a good'ol PSO or POSP on the gun.... keeping her classy :)

Nah, the POSP scopes cant off to the left side of the rifle. Not directly over the middle of the receiver and I'm a lefty so those don't work out to good for me.
