I've owned both and used both for three gun and hunting.
The t97 is more accurate, although the sights are epically terrible. In any kind of deep shadows in the bush, they are unusable.
The t97 is easier to carry as it's thinner and lighter.
The safety is retarded, and impacts the ability to use the rifle in a safe fashion when firing, then moving, and firing again (three gun).
The mag release can be worked around, but it's not optimal.
The tavor is better for optics mounting, the included back up sights are better.
It was a bit tougher to carry due to its girth, although I like the mitten friendly trigger guard.
Things that turned me off were the accuracy and the abortion of a trigger.
I'd choose the tavor of the two.
But honestly, I wouldn't buy either again. There are better rifles out there.
