I have a SKS .

I put a wartak rail on it, shot it @ 100-110 Meters with a 2-7x33mm scope @ 7X magnification.

Now! I sighted in the gun ok , But I'm still seeing at least 2-3 " groups @ 100-110 Meters.

I was wondering if their is any accurization methods for these rifles that a person can employ without much incurred costs.

figured i should ask before settling.

Not really... Working up handloads will make a slight difference, but not much.

They are what they are: inexpensive, cheap to feed, reliable and tough. Super-accurate isn't on that list...

Have fun!

If you're getting 2"-3" groups with an SKS, my recommendation would be don't mess with it. That's at the higher end of what an SKS can do.

A half dozen Tier 1 super stealth ultra assassin super ninjas are about to pop in and say they can get 1" groups at 100meters, off hand, with open sights, out of THEIR sks's. They can safely be ignored.

yea i was more thinking along the lines of was their any things that can be done to increase harmoinics or consistancy.
I understand this rifle is not a sniper rifle lol. that is a given.
And honestly i will likely just shoot the poop out of this.

just wondering if anything can be improved past what you get from the crate aside from crazy things like entire barrel replacements ect.

I will obviously not handload for this hahahahha.. @ literally what i paid 200$ for 1440 rounds - I think thats 14 cents per round ? id rather just shoot my bullets and have some fun haha. I cant even buy the lead for that alone handloading.

The only real modifications anyone do are get a scope or peep sights mounted to improve sight picture and sometimes shim the action within the stock. If there is play obviously that will hurt consistency.

You could also get yourself a Murray sear and do a trigger job. There are a few YouTube tutorials on an SKS trigger job.

I'm currently working on a sub MOA grouping at 200m, while doing a handstand using my feet to fire the rifle.

Get on my level.

Calculators are easily available on phones, computers, in dollar stores, etc lol

You can spend a lot of money and still not make a sniper out of an SKS. Enjoy it for what it is because if you dump a load of cash into a $200 rifle, it will still be a $200 rifle at the end of the day. Either save your money for ammo, or buy a rifle that can be what you want it to be.

OP no need to settle, very easy to get your groups consistently smaller.....step one, head to nearest gun store and trade SKS for K31.
Done!!!

Put the same rail on 2 sks rifles and got the same results as the OP. Havent done any tiger mods. That's pretty much normal.

IIRC, Ganderite did as extensive an SKS accuracy test as anybody on CGN. Search for his posts. Very ammo and rifle dependant. Some combinations were distinctly better than others.

If you need your SKS to shoot better than 2" at 100m, get a bolt action. That's pretty good, I'm happy if I can ring a 10" gong at 200 with every shot from any of mine.

The best tip I have had yet, when I asked "how do I get my SKS to shoot smaller groups?" the answer was "Stand closer to the target."
3" groups at 100yards means it is a viable 200 yard deer rifle anyway.

I have zero experience with the SKS, but a very intelligent person on here told me in some detail that he had greatly improved the accuracy of his SKS's by taking between 1.5" and 3" off the barrels. This was related to harmonics apparently.
