So i decided a while back i wanted the famous M1 garand. I originally wanted to import a CMP special grade rifle chambered in 308. Zdragunov PM'd me and offered his services of building a M1 garand rifle the way i wanted. I then chose a nice literally new old stock never used beretta receiver. i got one with a criterion barrel and nice NOS SA parts. The gun was built VERY well and the performance was second to none. He built the rifle and sent it to me in a nice case for a very good & fair price. I shot the rifle a few times and it performed flawlessly ( except for a few stovepipes which is MY fault for not tightening the gas cylinder down enough). Today i went to go see tacticalteacher in person for a 1 on 1 education session on the m1 garand and m1a. I got to take off and install a barrel on an m1a receiver and learned how to index it properly!. I also learned various tips and tricks on how to tighten up the gun overall to make it a better shooter. Barney offered to show me how to install a barrel on a remington 700 action as well. I plan on making a precision .308 rifle in the near future so i will be going to him for advise and for parts! :d. He also teaches long range shooting with the ORA at Base Borden so i will hopefully come to the matches so i can learn how to take my garand to 1000 yards with the iron sights.

All said and done, it was a kickass experience being taught by TacticalTeacher how to install and remove barrels on receivers & indexing them. I'm super happy to know i got a pretty much perfect condition garand as a shooter that is performing flawlessly and will perform for many years and thousands of rounds to come built by Zdragunov. Excuse me now while i go watch band of brothers and fondle and touch my gun....

Want a awesome garand for a good price? PM Zdragunov, want to learn everything there is to know about Garands or M1a's, PM tacticalTeacher.

Cheers and happy new year to all!

My experience mirrors yours OP.
We are so fortunate to have these mentors/friends.
Do yourself a favour and sign up for a TT/Hungry/Barney clinic or match.
After two of his kick ass clinics so far, I cannot wait for the next.
The learning curve is steep, improvements to ones marksmanship come on fast and furious .. plus, all the laughs and comraderie.

+1000, definitely will be showing up to the next nearby clinic/match.

I also dealed recently with ZDragunov for a built from scratch Garand with a Criteron 308 barrel. I was very satisfied with is built and is professionalism. Really recommending the guy to anyone.

Yep, some Zdragunov parts in my new-build Garand.(thank you sir!)
Barney did my barrel install/index.(he must have quite the wine cellar inventory going by now, eh? .. Haa!)

Which, by the way, after 14 months build time, spoke for the first time this past wk end.

The dangest thing is this, .. it was within 2 moa of POA right out of the gate, and dropped the empties in a neat pile just off my right elbow.
To all who helped me with parts and knowledge throughout this build, my most sincere thanks.
It is an awesome rifle and I love it. Never to be sold.

Proper range report to follow on the Garand build thread, soon as we get the load work-ups done.

Zdragunov has supplied some awesome parts for my Garand build as well. Should be done soon. There is a solid M1 Garand community here on CGN with real depth of experience. Thanks to all who are helping make these classic battle rifles come back to life. I continue to be amazed when I see a bin of parts built 60-70 years ago all come together and work! Magic.

I posted looking for agarand myself, Zdragunov messaged me and for an extremely good price built me a wonderful rifle all Nos parts except for the SA reciver i requested. Shoots like a dream and he is willing to awnser any questions and work with you in any way. Cant recommend this guy enough to anyone hes excellent and seems to love building these for people.

Nice. Could someone PM me what you paid?

I've got a JRA 30-06 on the way and I'm wondering how much I overpaid for a "new" M1 :(

JRA M1 garands were top notch rifles. take it shooting when you get it, then go watch band of brothers or saving private ryan and fondle it:evil:

Or the Raid, or the Sands of Iwo Jima or Flags of our Fathers or defense of Firebase Gloria. Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh It's all good!

Lemme see if I can post pics of my DuPage stocked M1 Garand ....

Cheers, Barney.

LOL I feel better now.

Honestly I didn't even expect Wanstalls to get any in. I put myself onto their mailing list a month of so back, for giggles, expecting it'd be months or a year, and a few weeks later they email me that a few were coming in end of Dec. So I had to quickly sell 3 rifles to pay for the bugger.

I still have my .308, all freshly lubed up and waiting for a warm day, to see if it still beans me with brass ;)

The differences in the M1 and M14 are interesting. I had never stripped an M1 before last week.

I keep seeing "for a fantastic price" which im sure it was , May i ask how much he builds them for?
I may be interested not long down the road.
I have been building up my semi-auto's collection this year , trying to get some of the nicer Non-restricted semi's into it while they are still findable on the market.
