Newb question about LAR 15 mag and Magpul Ranger plates

i posted pictures of mine here somewheres, instead of spending that money wait until atrs releases the new pistol mags....

I trimmed my mag followers after installation to allow the 10.5 round capacity to be retained. They work great, but I can't ever go back to usgi bases now (not that I'd want ever want to).

yeah Ive been watching that thread...its been 18 months and still nothing but 3D renderings ...something fishy seems to be going on there...being picky is one thing but 18 months seems like a long time to work out small details...I'll definitely buy em when they are released...before then they dont exist except in dream land

EDit: I think im thinking of another company's mags here..cant remember which one it was tho..my bad

No, no, Thats ATRS mags. They sold gen I's, then wanted GenII's to be made, Israeli manufacturer apparently bailed and for the last 6 months they've been promising mags to be ready for sale in 30 to 45 days.

I gave up on them and bought LAR15 mag 10 pack, 3D printed some couplers and off to the races!

Trimming the follower so the magazine holds 10.5 rounds will allow easy insertion into a rifle with the action closed. The first one I trimmed I used a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel. Bad idea, it melted as well as cut which removed more material than planned. That follower went into the garbage. The rest I cut using a small saw blade from an Xacto knife kit. Been using LAR mags with USGI Ranger Plates for a while and they work great.

I use High Speed Gear Taco Magazine Pouches which hold the LAR mags high enough I can get them out. On one or two of the more strenuous 3 gun stages I have noticed the mags sinking into the mag pouches but not far enough I could grasp the ranger plate. Still considering putting some foam blocks in the mag pouches to ensure there are no issues.

Would you be interested in extended 3d printed bottoms? Making the whole magazine longer?

I had actually been looking for the couplers to put two mags end to end as that would solve the length problem...but no one has had stock on those parts for sometime now..as per the 3d extensions..I dont know..will have to look into them..I saw some of the aluminum ones here somewhere but in my mind they are a bit too big for what Im looking for..do youmake and sell the printed ones or have a source for them?

I made couplers for myself and friends. Didnt really think about selling until now.
I dont use extensions but i could design an extension with something to grip it on the end.
