problem at the range today! Need some advice for DA Socom 18

It WILL come out. It's not like it was welded into place... you just need to get patient, keep focused, and keep trying.

You know those mountain bikers, fall down get all pissy and throw their bike? Don't get like that. Keep focused. It WILL come out.

If I lived closer I'd LOOOVE to have a look at this. WD40/Kroil/mineral spirits/lacquer thinner the crap out of it. Youd be wanting to get this fluid in between the shell and the chamber wall. Thoughtfully heat the chamber area of the barrel (take the gun apart first, right...) with a torch, to expand the steel away from the shell...(heck that might help!)... stay focused, it WILL come out.

I appreciate the support you guys have given me, but ... *with big man sobs* I'm throwing in the towel. I'm taking it to a gunsmith and having a pro look at it. I know there's quite a bit to learn about the m14 - amazing rifle when it works. I tried the broken shell extractor that I got and it didn't work.
I love the socom 18 version too much to mess with it anymore on my own without professional care. It's not easily replaceable if I'm not mistaken?

any m14 pros close to coquitlam?

Cerrosafe casted into the chamber can remove a stuck case, if you can find some cerrosafe. It has a pretty low melting point and it's easy to use. You can give that a try, it's worth a shot!

I might be able to help you after the weekend. I'll be in surrey. There's a few guys from my last clinic who also want to spend some quality time with me and the tools while I'm down from Canim Lake.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that.
The broken shell extractor was recommended alot, so I took a chance on it. But the shell is too stuck.

I plan on selling my remaining tula ammo (78 rounds) & might not risk my unopened case of barnaul (500 rounds), cause they are somewhat similar? I lik I look for reliability in firearms & safety. Might just stick to nato ammo

Most of them have never actually used theirs. They just have it in their range bag for just in case. If I keep a pack of JB stick weld in my range bag, I can get any broken shell extracted out while still at the range.

James good luck with the case extraction. As to the Tula being hot ammo, I can't say as I've never tried it. Barnual and MFS yes.

Norinco 762 is bang on NATO spec velocity and doesn't need to be any faster.

Could the Tula ammo be the worst choice in regards to powder burn rate and charge weight causing very high port pressure and violent extraction while case is still jammed home from high pressure due to too slow a burn rate???
I also saw a YouTube video where a guy writes off his purrdy M1 Garand chambered to .308Win with that very lacquered Russian ammo.?

If your rifle is undamged I wouldn't go near it again till some of these questions were answered in my mind.

I've used epoxy in the case with a ball of toilet paper in the case neck. It grabs the inside of the case and a bit of gentle tapping should get it out. I always have epoxy around the house.
