Hi Guys,

Looking to get an NEA-15 in the 5.56 14.5 inch barrel with 12 inch quad rail.

What are your thoughts on this rifle? Any caveats? Things we know don't work, things to beware of? Picky on Ammo?

Thanks!

thoughts on the NEA rifle? it is just another valued priced AR rifle, works as reliable as a Norinco, DPMS, Spike or Core 15
Any caveats? the rifles comes with a lot of drama and emotional baggage.
Things we know don't work, things to beware of? NEA rifles seems to invisible to the forum search function because people ask about them as often as kids in the backseat asking " are we there yet?"
Picky on Ammo? I don't think so, at least I have never heard complaints from any NEA rifle before.

Hey man, I cling to that drama and emotional baggage during the winter :)

The only thing I don't like is the finish, it's dark grey not black. Not a big deal but I have a pile of stripped lowers and it looks dumb when I put something together and the lower doesn't match the upper.

Opinion from New Zealand, finish is outstanding, my 12.5" rifle is MOA accurate with several brands of factory ammo. I am a pest controller and use it to shoot rabbits, magpies and goats. Has not failed ever. LOVE NEA and of course the Mini Can suppressor..

The only thing I really don't like is the way the handguard is attached. I think mine might be an older version though. Seems like a solid rifle. Upper and Lower fit is excellent. Barrel is really heavy duty. Works well with almost any mag.

I have a newer NEA 10.5" upper currently on a DPMS lower. Rear pin is really tight (too tight) and needs a rubber mallet to remove. I've also go an NEA lower coming and hopefully the pin will fit better. It works quite well, no issues that are not my reload related. I obviously made a bunch of reloads that didn't get sized completely right or maybe I gave them a slight shoulder bulge on crimping. They were jamming, but obviously that's not the gun's fault, that's all me. With other reloads or some factory AE it runs great. Love the short barrel for close up fun.

A common complaint that I've heard is that uppers do not mix and match well with other manufacturers should you ever replace the upper/lower. Either very tight or very sloppy. The ones I've seen at the range seem to function very well.

Have an NEA15 which I built from a bunch of used parts sourced from EE on this site.

The rifle is surprisingly accurate consistently shooting 1/4" groups at 50 m with 62 gr. It is chambered in .223 Wylde with 14.5" heavy barrel - no m203 step cut. zero issues in over 1500 rounds. I have yet to clean it.

Dont personally care if other uppers won't fit. Stripped NEA uppers are cheap.

YMMV but I am really impressed with mine.

This rifle is tight, accurate, reliable and made in CDA.

Not as pretty as DD, Noveske, etc...but I like it's ugly blunt look.

I like the 7.5 incher PDW the best of all.

Works flawless, feeds everything and has that amazing Shock and Awe effect at the range.

After a few mags, I don't need to shave for a day or so.

Only issue I had was a gas key coming loose on my BCG. I tightened it, gave it a few whacks with a cold chisel to stake it, and got on with it.

The hand guards seem a bit on the heavy side.

Magpul ctr ^^

At times, I somewhat torn between the 7.5" PDW in .556 and the .300 Blackout

.300 Blackout is amazing.

I first played with .300 in the early days (early 1990's) shooting a 300 Whisper T/C Contender from SSK Industries.
